Dear Lady Lydia,You´re always so inspiring! Don´t forget to smell the roses is a great suggestion, because time flies and slips away like water. Besides, life is full of beautiful things to watch slowly, even for a minute. I read somewhere that God gets sad when you pass by the little lovely cheerful flowers by the side of the road and just don´t notice them. He put them there for you! As John Calvin wrote, there´s not a bit of grass which hasn´t been put there for our joy. That´s the tragedy of our modern world, being always so busy, never stopping, never listening...But God speaks in the little, quiet details. Thanks for reminding us. P.S. I´m still waiting for you to reveal us your beauty secrets to be so healthy and fit, and to know if tea has something to do with that! :)
Marilla, I have been hesitant to talk about health because like most people my age, there are things wrong here and there, but maybe I will do a video on how to appear to be healthy :-)
My journal has been an on again/off again endeavor all my life. I LOVE reading entries from years ago, but struggle to be consistent in writing down life experiences. I'm either too tired, too busy, or simply forget. A couple of years ago I read Ann Voskamp's book, "One Thousand Gifts", where she wrote down anything she was grateful for, or found beautiful or lovely, and she numbered them. I began to do this, but it has sort of evolved into recordings of little bits of life - such as a funny thing one of the kids said, a beautiful flower I saw at the park, a lovely moment during a day trip to the beach, the awe of watching my son grow so tall so fast, the way my toddler mispronounces words, etc.... Just a short paragraph, or even a single sentence, of anything that makes me happy, or anything I hope to remember when I am very old. I am up to number 559 now, and it is easy to just write a few thoughts here and there throughout the week. I wish I had started years ago. It is a great way to meditate on your blessings. When I go back and scan the first few entries, it always triggers memories I had already forgotten. My children are growing SO CRAZY FAST, it's wonderful to have a way to focus on and to remember the little blessings of our days together. I love your blog! It's always nice to find a new blog entry notice in my inbox. Thank you!
