Greetings precious home dwellers and those who strive to be.
Before you hear the homemaker's edifying talk on the video at the end of the page, here are a few images from The Manse:
Of course you all have seen my personal Pemberley reflection. Each year when the rain season gives me a lake, I get a humorous delight in taking this picture.
(Above: the real Pemberley from the 1995 movie "Pride and Prejudice")
Today in the video I shared these new coloring books which I use for art ideas,
and showed you the sketch for the newsletter I made for someone:
I spoke of a letter Jane had written to Cassandra, thanking her for the invitation to visit, but explaining. "...You see, I never go out," which seems very appealing to me sometimes.
In the Eric Sloane history book I read about the reasons our great grandparents attended worship being much different than today. They attended because they were grateful and they enjoying the discipling (teaching) . Even if they could not read well, they wanted to hear the Word being taught.
Today's scene from my front porch:
Other things in this video:
Wake up with gratefulness for something.
Appreciating hot water.
Humming, rocking, walking.
Skin care (sunscreen?)
Approaching homemaking with a good attitude
Shopping for bargains as an interest and a service to the family
Tiny houses for old folks--do we need to go smaller or larger?
"Narcissism" in the home--its nothing new: its the same old thing mentioned in the Bible and in many old books with "characters."
Much more.
I base a lot of my content on your suggestions. I appreciate any ideas you have for subjects to speak about.
Please enjoy your home while you listen:

Such a delight to join you here again. I do enjoy your lessons and encouragement in homemaking.
ReplyDeleteOh Miss Lydia it is so good to see you. I have missed your encouragement. I love the way you make life interesting and with purpose in our vital years!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your friendship and patience while I try to post again!
ReplyDeleteYay!!! I am so excited to have a new broadcast from you—it made my day! 😊 I was beginning to fear that you weren’t going to produce any more. I have been going back and listening to older broadcasts—-I’m back to 2023!
ReplyDeleteI’m honored you find the older videos interesting to re-listen.
ReplyDeleteOh they definitely are. Your broadcasts are always full of hope and optimism as well as truth!
DeleteHello Lydia, it’s so good seeing your smiling face and hearing your voice again. I have missed you , my dear friend. So many things to comment on.
ReplyDeleteI have found to live my best life at home, I need to remember not to lose my joy. If you have no joy, you have no strength and cannot stand up to the attacks from the enemy of our soul. Remember God’s Word and use it as a weapon (the Sword of the Spirit). It is mighty to the pulling down of strongholds…
Something you mentioned about the selfish person. We had one in our family and through divorce we are all calm and at peace again. Gone is the constant controlling, yelling, tension and chaos. What joy it is to have peace again.
I pray you find time to do the videos again, it’s so uplifting to hear!
I listen to the old ones too sometimes (I see another reader is saying
ReplyDeleteso too)
There are many pearls of wisdom and wonderful words of wisdom, humour
and insight as always
Warmly,
Carolyn
Well, you have asked for comments, so I will gladly say thank you so very much for this talk. I am grateful for you, I truly am.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the sunscreen and you have helped me greatly in dealing with selfish people. Even in your own home.
God bless you and please don't stay away too long, if possible!🪻🌷
Thank you so much for another encouraging and uplifting broadcast! 🥰 my husband has learned to be cautious about sharing that I’m a homemaker. There’s been many instances where coworkers would seemingly berate him about whether or not I’m happy, if I’m bored, if he’s controlling, etc. Then he’d come home feeling bad and asking me if I wanted a spa day or a day to myself away from the children. I’d be so confused. I love my life and I’ve never requested anything like that. People can be very strange and intrusive when it comes to homemakers.
ReplyDeleteYour comments mean a lot to me. I’ll try to do another video soon.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this so much, so happy to see you, really missed you, I love your coloring books. Have a very blessed week.
