Video: The Dress

Hello, this is a little 12 minute talk about wearing dresses, making yourself happy so you can be in the best mood for the sacred role at home. You are a care giver and a home keeper, a comforter and a cheerleader. Let your mode of dress be part of that message to encourage others in your home. Let your choice of clothing lift you up and not let you down. Let it be part of the way you get inspired as you reflect the beauty of God's wonderful creation and express back to Him your appreciation and love for His care.

  1. I'm not sure either, but I *think* it was possibly clothing offered to anyone who could bring Elisha so that the king could behead him. (2 Kings about 5)? I'll look it up and edit.

  2. Love this! I have really started wearing dresses in the last year or two because after having baby #2 a dress just looks better on me. Also I found they are more comfortable but make me still look put together. I even have started wearing dresses in the winter which was new to me. I find a lot of nice dresses at the thrift store (great vintage ones too).

  3. No, it was in 2 Kings 5, Naaman took clothing to Elisha to pay for Elisha to heal him. Elisha refused, but Gehazi's greed caused him to run after Naaman and and lie to Naaman to get part of the payment. He received two changes of clothing among other things. However, there is another one involving more clothing and I think it did involve Samson and Delilah. Maybe someone else knows more. (we have been studying 2 Kings in Bible class, so it was fresh in my memory, but I didn't quite remember it all)

  4. Possibly it was a number of pieces of clothing awarded to anyone who could find the secret of Sampson's strength.

  5. Thank you Sharon. I think you got it right. I don't know where I got the number 30. Maybe it was to do with a wedding?

  6. Somehow I thought it had to do with war.

I completely agree - I wear dresses and they are so comfortable!
Did you make the one you are wearing in the video? It is lovely.

  8. I love wearing dresses- except in the Winter. I’m in Chicago and if it’s not a Polar Vortex or wind of 35-45mph, it’s the dreaded static in the stores. I literally cannot keep the lower half down! I’ve used Static Guard, hairspray, lotion, you name it! Once spring, summer and fall come, wearing dresses is very enjoyable!

I live in Ontario and it's cold here, as well as dry in the winter. I find that because I only hang dry my laundry, I do not ever have to battle with static. Tricia, maybe hang drying your skirts/dresses would keep the static away?

  10. I ordered long corduroy skirts from Chadwicks for winter, which have lasted for many years. I don't put them in the dryer. They dry overnight just as well with normal household heat in winter, and have no static. However, there is more static in clothing just because of the winter weather.

  11. thank you for the nice video about dresses and dressing well even in the home. I sew as well and it is fun and exciting to pick fabric and create. It's so important to feel feminine and pretty for mood. I am glad to know that I am not the only one who enjoys pretty floral fabric. Roses on fabrics are wonderful and very becoming, I say wear them as much as you like. I have had people tell me that the skirts I make are so pretty, and I never think people notice but they do. All of my friends are over 65 an none of them wear skirts or dresses, most just throw on anything they have because they feel old, like you say they think no one notices. But you make a fantastic point that it is important how dressing makes you feel about yourself. thank you again. ladyliza

  12. I loved this video so much. You really lifted my mood with your sparkling eyes when you talked about sewing. One can tell the subject is important to you.

I personally prefer skirt+shirt, because whit my bodybuild finding a fitting dress is almost impossible. Only some really loose jersey dresses work, I wear those at summer when it's hot but they make one feel so shabby.

  13. I am going to do a video on skirts and blouses because I like them too! There are ways to make them look like a dress, and to be slimming in appearance,
