More Daily Life

I hope you are all enjoying life at home.

Today in my message I talked about having the life you admire from other eras, by adapting the good elements of those times. In essence it is just living a pleasant daily life at home like people in the past have always done. We don't have to wish we lived in a different century because we can practice the same customs of the past in our homes,  with ordinary tasks and pastimes.
My new venture, "stealth sipping" began at night on the porch with a sip of my own blend, a concoction I call “Light in the darkness."

Our landscape is changing.

 I talked about these things:
The best way to teach and influence is by the way you live.
Homemaking is a matter of character.
The reasons people homeschool are not the same for everyone, but character qualities in curriculum are very important.

I enjoyed reading you the tea descriptions from Jane Austen books. Click on this link
to see these lovely teas and read the rest of this delightful tea company.

Please enjoy your responsibilities at home while you listen:

  1. I had difficulty learning to read as a child because of some mercury poisoning which left me with memory problems. The sight and memory method didn’t work for me and the Dick and Jane books just caused me frustration and embarrassment. Fortunately after grade three I was able to attend a 6 week phonics class with a tutor and was taught to cipher and sound words out. I could read anything after that and quickly caught up to my grade level. So I was never endeared to the Dick and Jane books. As far as I’m concerned they were a bad experiment on innocent children!

  2. I had to laugh when you were talking about having a secret sipping of tea in the library. In our home “the library” is jokingly referred to the bathroom, because there is always an ample supply of reading material there. Imagine having tea there. Certainly no one would expect that.🤣 Janet Westrup

  3. I think it would be lovely to take a cup of tea down to the bank of a quiet gurgling creek in the summer and rest in the cool shade.
Have you ever tried Lady Grey tea?
It has the usual bergamot flavor with a hint of lavender. It’s even refreshing iced. Buttery shortbread cookies are delightful with Lady Grey tea also.

  4. In spite of Lady Grey being out for so many years, I haven’t got around to trying it yet! Your comment reminded me. I am going to try to have a sip soon.

  5. Dear Lydia,

All the tea time talk was delightful! I was also pondering the sentiments from Mrs. Andelin’s book…”The husband makes a living, and the wife makes life worth living.“ Absolutely beautiful!! Thank you for sharing that! It’s incredibly encouraging.

    Blessings,

  6. Dear Lydia, I enjoyed listening to this talk (and the one previous) while I made a big batch of chocolate covered pretzels for the holidays, and also chopped vegetables for supper.

I love your idea of "Silent Sipping." You are always inspiring me with your creativity in making everyday life more interesting.

You mentioned you don't like lemongrass in teas. I too, try to read the ingredient lists of tea because I absolutely can't stand cardamon. Yet, it is in many blends, especially spice blends. It tastes like dirt to me. To each his own. :)
