Comments and Questions About Home Life (With Video)

Hello Dear Ones,

All is well here and I hope all is well with you. If not, maybe you'll feel better about everything after listening to this current video. I answered a few things on my list of subjects suggested by viewers.

Picture below: I recently learned about the benefits of this tea:

You may recall years ago when I made some fake cakes with silk flower petals. This year, for the child play kitchen. I made this fake cake using stickers from the dollar store. I explained more about it in the video. I sometimes scent them with a bit of vanilla.

There is an interest amongst grown-ups to create their own homeschool curriculum and homeschool themselves.  I suggested several books, but a curriculum could also include craft kits and other kinds of activities. Sometimes the Victoria magazines have articles about ancient architecture and countries of the world, that could be used as extra interest in home school.

Coloring books from Dover Books have lovely art and all kinds of themes including, farms, houses, scenery, and more. Although this is a coloring book, I got this one to use as a drawing book for future art themes.

The recent Victoria magazine and
an original book about the home by Emily Barnes, of whom I always say, "Her works live on after her."

Eric Sloane books have good drawings and descriptions of how things work.

I like the Lamplighter books, and you can see some of them stacked in the background of this photo:

An antique vase of dollar store flowers placed on one of Grandma's handwork lace pieces.

I took a picture of this old barn through the fog.

Thank you for coming, and I hope this video is edifying and that you use the video to listen while you get a few things done at home.

I was just looking at your archives, and I was thinking how nice it would be just to have you reading some of them in your videos. It would be a great company while I'm working. Specifically, I'm looking at Dec. 12, 2006, and thinking how much I'd like to hear you reading it, because I have work to do, and don't want to sit down to read it, however, it is a message I really need. You have countless wonderful messages in your archives. I would love to hear you reading them. You have been a blessing to me throughout the years. Thank you so much for your work.

Hi Lydia, I just order on Kindle the Book 101 Ways to Declutter by Emily Barnes. Thank you for sharing. I don't always comment however I watch your videos every time you post, I have a channel My Proverbs Home. You have encouraged me to talk about things that help us do better as Godly women! Thank you!

Hi Lydia,
I love to watch your videos. They are very encouraging.
I am a bit in a difficult season. My boys are still young and I homeschool them. My husband is an unbeliever and has narcissistic traits. I need to protect my heart and keep my distance because else I am emotionally abused (silent treatment, gaslighing, lying, projection,...). So I have to keep emotionally a distance = talking to him very business like with short sentences. It feels so lonely. And I hoped I could present a good marriage for the boys. But that just isn't reality, sadly enough. I know I have my heavenly Father and I try to follow His Son Jesus Christ. God knows it's not easy. But I try to do His will. Thank you Lydia, for your input if you can.
Lots of love, a sister in Christ

I tuned in today after many months of doing little else except my final year of teaching public school second grade. I will retire from teaching in 4 months and 10 days (I will be almost 63) and OH I am so glad!

On one of the Facebook retirement pages, in reply to a question about when to retire, someone posted, "Retire and do WHAT?" I replied, "Keep my house clean and nice, cook proper meals, enjoy my grandchildren, work outside, exercise, sub teach sometimes, learn how to paint, epoxy the garage floor, sell vintage clothing, tutor, get to see my husband more, write real letters, and regain my health, for starters!"
I truly appreciated hearing as you shared thoughts and suggestions about being home. Oh I will be so happy, I may get teary, the first day!

I was so pleased to see a mew video from you! I love the ideas and am intrigued with the "cake"- that looks so pretty.
As the other lady mentioned- I also love when you read things.
These videos and posts are a 'vacation' from all the craziness going on "out there".

I will try to address this in a future video. I know this is an increasing problem for many people!

Sunbowsky, you’ve got it figured outboard and it’s so obvious and simple. It’s doing what needs to be done.

Thank you for this video! I always look forward to them. I would love to hear about changing your ways of thinking. Neuroplasticity. I memorize a lot of scripture and God has been changing my anxiety ridden thinking in certain areas to create new pathways. It's been amazing how HE works, renewing our minds.

Becky , changing your way of thinking--thats a hard one but I'll try to do it simply. Its a way of substituting a yes for a no. I might be able to address it sometime on a video. I like everyone's ideas, as having a list of request is a lot easier to do.
