Style Marion

Hello Ladies,

Thank you for visiting here today. I want to introduce an elegant channel some of you more vital ladies will find interesting and delightful.

Marion has a personal goal of lifting and encouraging and spreading happiness with her style, music and cute cats.

I believe she lives in Switzerland and she wants to help improve clothing design in the midst of today's bleak fashion trends, in what I as call the “prevailing culture. In her videos she revives good music and beauty. She also takes tea, like we do here sometimes.

 The country background is lovely.

Click here to see her videos:

Besides her videos, she posts daily short videos with music while she shares some of her "high-end" clothing she has collected. Be sure to click on the link and have a look.

I have also added her to my most recent favorites on the side bar.

Lately I have featured on this blog clothing for the home, because I observed how much better I feel when I dress my best. It affects everything I do at home from having tea to catching up on correspondence and yes, even picking up the daily clutter.

Rather than be too disheartened by the current fashion trends, I find it a happy challenge to go up against the prevailing culture of drab, unattractive designs in clothing. As Anne would say, it gives much scope for the imagination. There is a void to be filled, and we will do it.

While my clothing may not be well known designer style, I think the same principles she espouses apply to dressing anywhere, even if you are home most of the time: be feminine, dress in inspiring ways, be modest, and use good taste and good sense, do  not be sloppy, trashy, or unkempt.

As I always say, try not to spoil other's view by what you wear, but inspire and edify, even at home.

Although I identify as 16, and try to inspire the new generations to dress well, I am, like some of my readers, of a “ vital” age ( you all know what that means) and I thought you would appreciate listening to Marion, who dresses with dignity for her vital age.

I have often told people who say their style is different than mine, "That's okay. We can still be friends."  So, even if you don't care for the clothing I feature (mostly designed and sewn by myself) you can use the principles of good design and how to bring out the best in your figure and coloring, as well as the message you are giving to others.

I hope to be back soon with a video about clothing for the home and for outside the home, soon, but in the meantime I hope my posting this link will give her some encouragement.

Clothes at Home #6 and Video

I took this photo for you to enjoy the evening view from The Manse. It is not enhanced; this is exactly what it looks like in the evening.

I hope your are contented in your present circumstances.

If you are viewing this blog for the first time, the clothing might seem unusual to you. I am home full time and want to wear colors and prints that would not normally be worn in the workplace or in public, and clothes that make me feel happy while engaging in responsibilities of running a home.

This was sewn from cotton fabric purchased at Walmart.
I usually picture the apron I wear with the dress, and will try to remember to include that in future pictures. These cotton “ cottagecore “ dresses look more formal with  coordinating cardigans and jackets.

Today I tried another Republic of Tea flavor.

Here is the etiquette lady  I mentioned:

Please enjoy the continued talk on the importance of dressing in an inspirational way for the home. I hope you get a lot of things accomplished while you listen.

Clothes at Home #5 and Video

Greetings and welcome to The Manse.

Today I mentioned clothing for the home, and included the word Cottage Core. You can see this style on MY PINTEREST. Just go to the Cottage Core boards.

Some changes here at home: slipcovers from a local discount store gives the living area a light, new look:

Today I continued the subject of dressing for homemakers, and connected it with the things we talk about, that we may be refined in both.

I wanted to also say that dressing well at home may help you function at home in a more orderly way. It can put you in the mood to make your list and follow it, attending to your responsibilities with contentment.

What I wore at home today made with the one-yard packages of Waverly cotton fabric from the Walmart. I will put an apron over it for general homemaking. I explained how I made a little coordinating hair clip, shown here on the dress.

The three poems I read by Edgar A. Guest:

If It's Worthwhile
Good Enough
Failure

I read from Simple Social Graces by Linda Lichter,  a history of the Victorian era, pages 275-276
A Quote: "Dress bears the same relation to the body as speech does to the brain; and therefore, dress may be called the speech of the body."

and from  The Lost Art of Dress pages 276-277 the quote:
"...when women pursue the art of dressing to attract men, it makes them vain and shallow.  They forget that clothing should suit the occasion when they wear alluring garments regardless of the hour or place."

Here is something to listen to while you tidy up your home:

Clothing and Home #4 and Video

Greetings and welcome to The Manse.

At the end of the post is the video I made for you, and
below is a picture of the skirt and blouse I wore at home: Lace or white always looks good with plaid.
Skirt by Time &Tru from the Walmart, made of rayon.  The skirt had a very long walking opening that needed to be stitch up. Since it is a peasant style ease of movement, I sewed the side cut together.

Rolls of fabrics for nature dressing or mood dressing.

My tea today is hibiscus from Republic of Tea, sent by one of my readers.

Scripture I quoted about being durable:
Romans 15:4

The verses of comparison between
Discouragement and Comfort
2 Corinthians 5:7-12

I read two poems of Edgar A. Guest:
Loser and Victor
My Life

Young royals wearing cottage core:

I compared the poetry and the paintings in this book and showed how the art and the poetry were aligned with loveliness

To summarize the video on clothing:

*Clothing can set your mood at home and gives you personal dignity.

*Cameras are everywhere these days. Remember that before you go out in grunge clothing.

*Clothing standards can reflect the foundational standards of your life.

*Dressing well shows respect for others, even in the home. I'm always appreciative when my descendants visit and are well dressed, even when casual.

*Modesty should also be beauty.  One should not contradict or compromise the other.

*You can wear lovely clothes that are in good taste, modest and pretty, but you must also have other refined attributes, particularly the things you talk about.

*Dressing well sets a standard in the community that is a good influence.

*To improve the way you dress and speak and learn refinement, do a search on the web and on YouTube for high value manners, and any other self improvement subject. Immersing yourself in some of these will help you pick up a few very good hints that will help.

Olivia’s clothing in The Magic of Ordinary Days:

I have always planned to sew this outfit and make the matching hat or fascinator. The gloves are pretty.

Clothing at Home #3

(I am sorry I didn’t include the artist and name of painting when I saved this to my files. When I find it I will add it here).

 Hello Ladies,

I do hope to be back with an interesting talk about clothing at home. It can be a motivation to do well in things I have been avoiding and dressing well puts such tasks in a better light, and me in a more determined and happy mood.

Thank you for checking back here so faithfully and for the things you do for me, especially your prayers.

Someone sent me a tin from Republic of Tea with Hibiscus tea sachets. During a severe heat wave here (107*F) I made some and then added ice. Thanks to the kind lady who sent it!!

Hopefully I will get back to you soon with a long talk.

High Summer Views From Home

Dear Ones,

I hope you are doing your best in your current circumstances. I anticipate leaving a nice video for you. My voice and word currency is thin right now since I’m being visited by descendants, so I’ll post a few photos.

Lately I have been shown how to make a simple pleasant daily journal by putting one small die cut or picture on a tiny page. These are placed in tiny blank books and done once a day.

I use small colored and white index cards and write one scripture word. It has to be very simple and not become a huge project. That takes restraint for some of us. This is a good project for your children too if they want to know about words. The cards can be clamped together with a fancy clothespin. This is a good habit that for some, creates a moment of quietness. simplicity, focus, and prayerful gratitude which can do wonders for the day.

Parts of pictures from greeting cards are also used.

Stickers from Dollar Tree.

Stickers from the Hobby Lobby.

I mentioned something like this in a previous post.

My granddaughter looks like a painting.
