Greetings and welcome to The Manse.
Today I mentioned clothing for the home, and included the word Cottage Core. You can see this style on MY PINTEREST. Just go to the Cottage Core boards.
Some changes here at home: slipcovers from a local discount store gives the living area a light, new look:
Today I continued the subject of dressing for homemakers, and connected it with the things we talk about, that we may be refined in both.
I wanted to also say that dressing well at home may help you function at home in a more orderly way. It can put you in the mood to make your list and follow it, attending to your responsibilities with contentment.
What I wore at home today made with the one-yard packages of Waverly cotton fabric from the Walmart. I will put an apron over it for general homemaking. I explained how I made a little coordinating hair clip, shown here on the dress.
The three poems I read by Edgar A. Guest:
If It's Worthwhile
Good Enough
Failure
I read from Simple Social Graces by Linda Lichter, a history of the Victorian era, pages 275-276
A Quote: "Dress bears the same relation to the body as speech does to the brain; and therefore, dress may be called the speech of the body."
and from The Lost Art of Dress pages 276-277 the quote:
"...when women pursue the art of dressing to attract men, it makes them vain and shallow. They forget that clothing should suit the occasion when they wear alluring garments regardless of the hour or place."
Here is something to listen to while you tidy up your home:

Oh my goodness!! That fabric! Is it from Hobby Lobby?
That particular dress is made from Waverly brand fabric all cotton, sold at Walmart in packages of pre-cut one-yard pieces. I usually get 4 of them to make a dress like this.
Your clothes at home series has been quite a blessing. I am enjoying it! I would love to see some more of your dresses that you like to wear at home.
I am enjoying listening to you talk about women and their dressing habits. I agree it is very important how we as women present ourselves. But then I began to think about men and how they are dressing in our world today. For example at church, the majority of women will wear feminine and modest clothing, wearing their Sunday best clothes. But so many of the men dress down... a few will wear dress slacks with sport coats , button-down collar shirts and ties, a few without the sport coat...but the majority seem to be wearing more causal clothes, some even in shorts(really...grown men😯) Perhaps they are wearing their best. But how I love to see a man dressed in a suit or a pair of dress slacks, sport coat and tie with a dress shirt. And we know that it has been tested and found to be true of how he is regarded overall in society.
Blessings!
What you say is true. I intend to address it in my next episode.
I have enjoyed the series! Although I do not wear dresses at home, I am always "ready to go". I enjoyed by time in Oregon in July and I did pray for you twice on our way to the Eugene airport! I do miss all the flowers and fresh fruit and veggies.
