This is part two on the subject of staying home. Titus 2:5 says "workers at home". Workers, in this verse, means "managers," and "home" is the location.
I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day; I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way. The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear, Fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear; And the best of all the preachers are the men who live their creeds, For to see good put in action is what everybody needs.
I soon can learn to do it if you'll let me see it done; I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue too fast may run. And the lecture you deliver may be very wise and true, But I'd rather get my lessons by observing what you do; For I might misunderstand you and the high advice you give, But there's no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.
When I see a deed of kindness, I am eager to be kind. When a weaker brother stumbles and a strong man stays behind Just to see if he can help him, then the wish grows strong in me To become as big and thoughtful as I know that friend to be. And all travelers can witness that the best of guides today Is not the one who tells them, but the one who shows the way.
One good man teaches many, men believe what they behold; One deed of kindness noticed is worth forty that are told. Who stands with men of honor learns to hold his honor dear, For right living speaks a language which to every one is clear. Though an able speaker charms me with his eloquence, I say, I'd rather see a sermon than to hear one, any day.

This week's interest is how to cook Hobo stew and cornbread. One does not need to go far from home to do this, as it is just as enjoyable in the kitchen.

What I wore at home:
For this look I paired an old black skirt I got at the Walmart ( 30 years ago— yes there were some very durable items then) with a current Walmart black mohair/cotton cropped cardigan.
I’ll wear this if I have go anywhere.
I will have the apron on to protect the garment during tasks in and out of the house. Someone made it for me. Apparently at the Walmart and the Hobby Lobby there are plain thick cotton aprons and iron-on embroidery patterns for aprons featuring each day of the week. This one says “ clean day.” I’d love to have the whole series.
I got this green rayon cable knit top recently from Walmart for $5 and sometime I’ll try to do a tutorial on how to sew v-necks that are too low— easily with needle and double thread.

We are in fog season here, which inspires stories of adventure and intrigue.
Earlier this season I pulled out one of the original Victoria magazines from 1989
and enjoyed the cover photo of the glorious deep red cardigan, scarf and hat. These issues with the lovely clothing were influences (influence being one of the concepts I spoke of in the broadcast) and inspired many a home sewist, milliner, and knitting enthusiasts
I have made pecan maple scones.
I love the contrast of the refined cup with
the rustic background. The teacup is a gift ( thank you again , Dahlia) and was handmade by an Oregon ceramic artist.* Refinement is one of the
subjects I covered in the video today.

Skirt: Waverley brand cotton fabric from the Walmart, a 2 yard package for $6,00, skirt zipper $1.00, old pattern.
Light blue cropped (short in length) big knit cardigan: Walmart sale ( under $10)
Eyelet lace from the Hobby Lobby, about $5.00
I added the pockets to this fancy apron .
On the wall is a canvas print ( reproduction) called Victorian Memories by Barbara Mock. I got a small one, 9” by 12” for about $12 at a Walmart a few years ago. Here is a link

I like the wrapped canvas reproductions because they don’t need to be framed in glass. The canvas print hangs neatly on a wall in the home and if for any reason the picture falls, it will not break. Also, there is no glare on the picture from inside or outside light, without glass. When pictures have a frame with glass, there may also be a problem with debris inside the glass. The canvas prints work well for a house like mine that has a lot of exposure to the weather.

This was a recent sunrise, and it has not been enhanced, believe me.
I was looking for the original meaning of the word 'fearfully' in the scripture
:I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
Psalm 139:14
In the original Hebrew, fearfully does not mean the kind of fear that we associate with being afraid. No, the Hebrew word here means to approach something or someone with great reverence, heartfelt interest, and deep respect.
So Ladies, we are respectfully and wonderfully made. That is why I emphasize the dignity of taking care of yourself and trying to be at your best for the important role of homemaking.
I also quoted "He has a future and a hope for you" from Jeremiah 29:11 (although I mistakenly gave the wrong citation).
I love the fog in the morning and I enjoy the contrast of a fancy tea cup against the primitive background.
