Intrusive Government: Quotes From the Past

A Collection of Quotes and Videos to Keep You Informed About Our Nation

(Scroll down to view 14-part video on youtube)

Mark Twain, 130 years ago, wryly observed:

“The mania for giving the Government power to meddle with the private affairs of cities or citizens is likely to cause endless trouble . . . and there is great danger that our people will lose our Independence of thought and action . .

and sink into the helplessness of [one] who expects his government to feed him when hungry, clothe him when naked, to prescribe when his child may be born and when he may die, and, in fine, to regulate every act of humanity from the cradle to the tomb, including the manner in which he may seek future admission to paradise.”

"No one's life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session."

More recently, in the 1930’s, cowboy humorist, Will Rogers, warned those desiring efficient government:

“Be thankful we're not getting all the government we're paying for.”

No matter what our system of government is called, it has to be guarded against "isms" and false philosophies.

Here is a convenient primer of "isms", so that you can identify the fallacy when you hear of it. Some of the definitions are obtained from " Heritage of Freedom," the book, "Seven Men Who Rule From the Grave," and others from the sources and links given:

Sophism: From this word, comes our term "sophisticated," or "sophistication."

"The juggle of sophistry consists, for the most part, in using a word in one sense in the premise, and in another sense in the conclusion." ( Samuel Taylor Coleridge)

Fallacious reasoning; reasoning sound in appearance only. These men have obscured and confounded the nature of things by their false principles and wretched sophistry. (Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary)

A confused or illogical argument used for deceiving someone. A sophism is taken as a specious argument used for deceiving someone. It might be crafted to seem logical while actually being wrong, or it might use difficult words and complicated sentences to intimidate the audience into agreeing, or it might appeal to the audience's prejudices and emotions rather than logic, i.e. raising doubts towards the one asserting, rather than his assertion.
Sophism can involve circular reasoning, or conceited arguing.

Darwinism: The psuedo-scientific ideas of Charles Darwin (1809-1882), one of which is the theory of evolution, the belief that the earth was not created, but evolved from one tiny particle of matter. His beliefs actually came from an ancient Greek teachings about evolution. Darwin made famous the word "race" which he used to describe different nationalities, a term not widely used before then.  The Bible refers to different cultures as nations, and further states that man is related by one blood. Darwin's own prejudices were revealed in his book, "The Origin of the Species."Read more here http://www.apologeticspress.org/articles/12

Modernism: This is another word for "liberalism" which is the attempt to define the Bible in light of Darwinism and other pseudo-scientific beliefs. http://www.apologeticspress.org/rr/reprints/Battle-Over-Genesis.pdf Modernism also defines the Bible as a social gospel, insisting that it is the purpose of Christianity to make everyone economically equal. Modernism is sometimes interchangeable with liberalism.
Rationalism: The idea that man's reason is the sole criterion for truth. In this view, reason becomes truth, and scripture is rejected...Rationalism is not the same as rationality, which is based upon God's creation of the universe.

Skepticism: This is the doctrine that the truth of all knowledge must always be in question...the skeptic is one who is "ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." (2nd Timothy 3:7). Like other "isms", skepticism can take on an air of elitism or conceit, when it overlooks pure truth and argues against sound evidence.
Romanticism: This is an extreme that is prevalent today, which glorifies the emotions at the expense of reason; it promotes free and individual expression regardless of truth. It creates a desire to gratify one's immediate desires, rather than subjecting their emotions to the will of God and using them to his glory.
"Higher" Criticism: This is a viewpoint that the Bible is just a piece of ordinary literature and should be judged according to one's own personal opinion, rather than the eternal laws contained within it. In actuality, there is no conflict between the Bible and real science, but if someone perceives it as conflict, they are encouraged to reject the Bible. The Bible's science is also discussed at this site http://www.apologeticspress.org/articles/270 Higher criticism was also adopted by Karl Marx, who glorified the state.
Materialism: Promoted by Darwin, this is the idea that the only reality is matter, and rules out the spiritual and the super-natural. It means that material things are all that matter and that spiritual things are not important.
Socialism: From materialism, came the belief that government had the right to remove social and economic inequality by controlling and regulating people, rather than by Biblical economics, which allows a man to prosper according to the work that he does, and teaches a man to provide for his own family, rather than depending upon the state. Socialism is rooted also in Darwinism, which teaches that man has no soul . Today, socialism is a friendly sounding word for what is really communism.
Communism: This is the belief that man must be regulated and controlled by the state, rather than by his belief in Almighty God, and that everyone should be socially and economically equal, whether they have worked for it or not. It takes from those who work hard, and gives a large share of their earnings to those who do not work, and to programs that the workers do not support or believe in. In reality, communism does not create equality, but creates extreme poverty, destroys the economy, and puts wealth in the hands of a few elitists in government who dictate to the major part of the population. You can read more about it, here

Marxism: Karl Marx (1818-1883) Marx had a troubled family, himself, and did not provide for them, preferring instead to write about how this world should be run. He "refused to work for a living, and allowed his wife and children to live in poverty, while he developed many of his anti-Biblical ideas at the university. He became involved there with a revolutionary group that followed the beliefs of Hegel, and wanted to eliminate Christianity." He believed that if private property was abolished, all of man's problems would be solved. In his thinking, people with their own possessions and property (bourgeois) were exploiters, and that his system of logic was superior. Marxist ideas (socialism) do great damage by stirring up class against class, and nation against nation. His system stirs up suspicion and envy and a feeling of entitlement.

Feminism: Taught in colleges today under the label of "women's studies," feminism is based on competition with and envy of men. It is patterned after Marxism, Socialism, and other "isms". While the Bible allows women the privilege and high honor of marriage, motherhood and being in charge of the home, feminism teaches them to replace this with careers. Feminism was a social engineerig program founded by elitists to get women out of the home and create more tax payers to support social programs which would replace the function of women in the home, such as child care and education. You can read more about the dangers of feminism here:
http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Evils%20in%20America/Feminism/dangers.htm
Since Jesus Christ has already liberated women from being under the oppression of men and others that are not responsible for them, feminism is another ism that is not needed. It has cost our families a high price and has contributed to the spread of the other "isms" listed here.

Fabianism: A financial system in which rent is collected unearned, and businesses are taken over by the government: http://www.relfe.com/plus_5_.html

Jeffersonian Policy:

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.

Thomas Jefferson

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

Thomas Jefferson

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.

A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Thomas Jefferson

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

Thomas Jefferson

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.

Thomas Jefferson

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered..'

'If you don't read the newspaper you are uninformed,

if you do read the newspaper you are misinformed.'

-Mark Twain

A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.

Thomas Jefferson

A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.

George Bernard Shaw

Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.

P.J. O‘Rourke, Civil Libertarian

Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else.

Frederic Bastiat, French Economist (1801-1850)

P.J. O‘Rourke

Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn‘t mean politics won‘t take an interest in you.

Pericles (430 B.C)

What this country needs is more unemployed politicians.

Edward Langley, Artist (1928 - 1995)

Fall of the Republic

Fall Of The Republic documents how an offshore corporate cartel is bankrupting the US economy by design. Leaders are now declaring that world government has arrived and that the dollar will be replaced by a new global currency.

President Obama has brazenly violated Article 1 Section 9 of the US Constitution by seating himself at the head of United Nations' Security Council, thus becoming the first US president to chair the world body.

A scientific dictatorship is in its final stages of completion, and laws protecting basic human rights are being abolished worldwide; an iron curtain of high-tech tyranny is now descending over the planet.

A worldwide regime controlled by an unelected corporate elite is implementing a planetary carbon tax system that will dominate all human activity and establish a system of neo-feudal slavery.

The image makers have carefully packaged Obama as the world's savior; he is the Trojan Horse manufactured to pacify the people just long enough for the globalists to complete their master plan.

This film reveals the architecture of the New World Order and what the power elite have in store for humanity. More importantly it communicates how We The People can retake control of our government, turn the criminal tide and bring the tyrants to justice.
