I like the new banner picture. The caption of 'Restoring Manners and Chivalry in the Home' complements it nicely.

A cheerful atmosphere makes such a difference in the home, especially during the dark days of winter. Beautiful and inspiring pictures, Lydia!

I am planning to post articles about manners and chivalry throughout this month.

You can easily imitate the country porch scene with fabrics. Candle stands can be purchased at the Goodwill and painted to match.

I have found like-new place mats like this but there was only one, or lesss than we needed. I made hand mit or pot holders for the kitchen with them. If they are thin they may need to be doubled or lined for your protection. Or use the quilting for the top part adding strings to tie it to your towel rack or hook for a hand towel. Then add half a gathered terry towel to the bottom. They have been a beautiful one of a kind additiion to our kitchen. I have also placed a pretty one on the back of the toilet tank when I found one in the right colors. Sometimes it is hard to find a floral set redimade for the kitchen. They seem to be making stripes and more manly prints now.

I too appreciate the new banner and caption. You put a lot of thought into your blog design and contents and we sure notice.
