Strain and Stress at Home (7)

This may be the last of the special series of broadcasts I have published about trauma in the home. It is impossible to cover everyone's experience,. I consulted with a few old friends for things to include in this one.

Around the Manse:

I read a chapter from Wives and Daughters at the start of this broadcast, and also the "free air" chapter from Bryan Koslowski's book, "The Jane Austen Diet."

Sweatshirts from the brand "Time & True" are looking more feminine these days. I do not know why we didn't think of this back in the day.

These all cotton tops are good for wearing in the home when you want to wear work clothes that are still feminine-- I highly recommend them. You can get them at your local WalMart or online.

This one has cute tucks in the shoulders
Please enjoy your work or your walk while you listen today.

Thank you for sharing and guiding those that are interested in home living. There is a lot of trauma in families, if only they could apply godly principles many people would benefit. I find your radio program comforting, because there is peace in following biblical truths.. I have learned much from your blog in years past when I would visit. And now with your videos. God bless.

Dear Lydia,

Thank you for this marvelous series. My wish is that everyone with children could / would hear your thoughts and wisdom on these many topics. The notions on training up children is breathtaking and so simple. Today many parents throw up their hands and do things themselves instead of guiding their progeny to learn their way into adulthood, mistakenly thinking it's just easier not to fight the resistance! So many useful lessons herein, for which I am grateful.

The segment on air and stuffy home syndrome is scathingly brilliant! I've noticed this as well. Being a 'scientist', as you are, it was good to hear your wisdom on the truth about stale air and 'houseitosis', the ions and how rains and/or storms will clear the air. Super great health segment, thank you.

Dear Mrs. Sherman,

I have popped in today after many weeks away (vacation with husband) to find that you have had an interesting series going. I very much look forward to listening to them all, having endured traumas of various kinds for well over a decade within my family. From a severely strained mother/daughter relationship to losing my father and brother within fifteen weeks of each other quite unexpectedly, living with daily traumatic fallout has, unfortunately, become a river with which I am very familiar. We keep thinking it will "end" at some point, do we not, but it is never that simple. I read just this morning that learning to live with such deep sorrow is much like learning to move again after an ill-healed bone break. We must learn to dance with a limp, but we must learn to dance, nonetheless.

Best wishes to you and Mr. Sherman,
Shani

Thank you for that link. It’s so revealing.

You can order the shirts or check out your Walmart. In Canada there should still be a supply of them because it is still cold. In Oregon they are still on the rack at regular price but maybe not in the south where it has become quite hot.

Hi Lydia, Just wanted to check on you. I usually do my basic cleaning on Monday while listening to my favorite "Homemakers Radio", but the station was off today. :-)
Just want to make sure you are all well.

Peace be with you,
Dee
