Jesus, Lover of My Soul

Light House Cove
by Carl Valente

I enjoy this arrangement of the song "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" and I think you will find it a soothing background inspiration for any homemaking that needs to be done. You can listen to more on my playlist here.

My house is currently in  disarray from rennovations, and that is the reason I have not posted in awhile. People are so kind to me, phoning and skyping me even from other countries, when they have not seen me online for awhile.

I hope to have something more uplifting to post later!

And if there are any subjects currently on your mind you'd like me to address, just leave a comment, and though I cannot guarantee that I can always find a perfect answer, I will try.

Love to all,

Lydia

New Song Added to Playlist

I have just added this to the top of my playlist.  I am sorry that I have not completely got rid of the ads on some of these pieces of good music, but hopefully you can click them off yourself as they come up.

This song was written by a man named Brumley, who also wrote the much loved hymns, "I'll Fly Away" and "Jesus Hold My Hand."  It was not as promoted as the other two songs, but I find it just as wonderful, if not more.  It was written about 50 years ago.

Worship Hymn

I was looking for "Saviour Grant Me Rest and Peace" and found this song, which has  similar sentiments.

Spiritual Sunday

Some bloggers have a "Spiritual Sunday" link-up. This is my own contribution. The song may not catch your attention right away but keep listening. The lyrics and the tune are really nice.

If you want to hear more of this group's songs, you can go here  http://www.youtube.com/user/sesamonte#p/u/1/AMU0G7pTeLo

I also enjoy an ancient form of singing called sacred harp  : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaLnG7vfVOc&NR=1

Reassurring Song

I have posted this before, I know, but it sounds so good, it is worth repeating!

For another great song you'll find yourself singing over and over, go here http://homeliving.blogspot.com/2011/06/serendipity-saturday.html and scroll down to the video I posted. The words are beneath the video. I was not able to find the acapella  version, but the singers in this one are so good they drown out the instrument .

The Strings of the Voice

The Three Marys at the Tomb
by William Adolphe Bouguereau
 France, 1825-1905

The voice is a beautiful instrument, as you can hear in this acapella  recording.  I will post a copy of the sheet music for "The Sands of Time" in case you want to learn to sing it yourself. When the song has ended, I would highly recommend you click on "Meet Me There." The video is beautiful.

The song was written by Ann Ross Cousin, who was born in Hull, England in 1824  and lived in Scotland.

Here is one you might enjoy, called "Dare to Be Like Joshua" sung by a group of Christians that gather each year for a singing session.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ70Nn2QIxA&feature=related    I do not know the words to this song but they sound like they might be something you would like to teach children.

WATERS OF TYNE

I cannot get tae my love if I would dee

For the waters of Tyne run between him and me

And here I maun stand wi a tear in my ee

All sighin and sobbin, my true love to see

Oh where is the boatman, my bonny hinney

Oh where is the boatman, go bring him to me

For to ferry me over the Tyne to my honey

Or speed him across the rough waters to me

Oh bring me a boatman, I`ll gi all my money

And you for your trouble rewarded shall be

If you`ll carry me over the Tyne to my honey

And I will remember the boatman and thee

I cannot get tae my love if I would dee

For the waters of Tyne run between him and me

And here I maun stand wi a tear in my ee

All sighin and sobbin, my true love to see
