Greetings from The Manse. This is my view today, and in keeping with that scenery, I am continuing with a talk about clothing. I quoted one of my sayings in the video inserted at the end of this post:
Do not spoil the beautiful view by dressing carelessly. If the view is ugly, improve it by dressing beautifully.
I will move on to other subjects integral to the home, such as character, art, literature, music, home keeping, etc. in due time.
I read more about clothing from these two books and I showed this picture to illustrate a good way to make a non-fancy dress look more formal and put together by adding a coat. These are easily found in clothing stores and not expensive, as they are not designed to be traditional coats but made of thinner fabrics. They make you look more feminine even if you do not wear dresses or skirts, or if you are hesitant to wear longer skirts.
This is my collection of wardrobe planning for the home.
Some of these are sketches by my granddaughter who is also a sewist 🧵 🪡
The blouse and skirt I wore today is cotton and purchased at the Walmart. It would have been nice if the store had it in other colors. In a future post I will show you how I machine sewed it to fit me better and raise the neckline.
To make home clothing suitable for going places, just add a jacket, as you see here.
For a more formal look, try scarves and shawls:
You can do a search for aprons that cover the blouse as well as the skirt. There are some very nice ones out there. Someone made this one for me.
I hope you enjoy listening while you work at home. I make these videos for my descendants, who one day may want to know how to cope with the crazy fashions of the future, just to give them a glimmer of light.

Your granddaughter has inherited amazing talent! Through the years, hearing you speak of dressing for the season or the day, or even for the pretty flowers around you has inspired me. When I am picking out my clothes for the day, if it's overcast I choose colorful clothes. I'm not one for too many patterns in my clothing, subtle, but pretty. Thank you for this one.
PS I have noticed when we put on a smile as our final "accesory" it brightens even the grumpiest person around us. :-)
Marion has a good message to the world with her happiness and positive outlook, clothing standards and health.
I call it “ mood dressing “ which is a response to the kind of weather or light or seasonal colors. I am not that perceptive when it comes to social dressing.
A smile changes many things in our health, too.
