Good Morning and welcome to The Manse.
To those who came here from YouTube, the video is on the end of this post. You can also leave comments on the comments section and I will post them as quickly as possible. If using your phone, click “view web version“ at the end and it should be easy to comment. For others, click on “comments” or “no comments” (or where it indicates how many comments have been posted).
I have had a bit of stealth-sipping outside and now will do some stealth-cleaning.
Those who have been here a few years know it means I try to do it without anyone noticing.
This is a shirt and skirt I bought from a local farm supply store. Ladies can get nice things if they know what to find and how to put it all together. I will show here how I wear it at home, and then when I need to go out.
I like to have an apron that matches in color somewhat,
...and to give the outfit a little more dressy look, I wear it with a dollar store scarf which has the olive/sage leaves on it that coordinate with the color of the garment.
This is what the lace scarf looks like, and you might be able to make one yourself quite quickly by cutting some lace fabric (from a curtain, table cloth, or any used item) in a triangle and adding trim.
The scarf makes the clothing so elegant, it could be worn in a more formal setting.
Please enjoy your home while you listen, and be sure to pause whenever you want. Please do not think you have to listen to it all at one time.
My granddaughter and her friends look like lovely flowers walking across a parched area of land here.
Some of you might be interested in Marion’s current video. She accepts encouraging comments.

Dear Lydia Ruth,
The obvious just needs to be declared and I appreciate your common sense and truthful words of the importance of how we dress. It has been proven that the way we dress has an affect on how others perceive us, yet it is as if "they are blind". I literally cringe when I see the things that even "vital women" choose to wear today. I have asked my children if they have any respect for me whatsoever, please inform me if I begin to wear certain clothing styles! Blessings to you!
Cathy, just as I jokingly threaten my grandchildren to “ drag them out by their ear” if they dress atrociously inappropriately, I tell them to do the same to me if I ever absentmindedly dishonor my vital age by ignoring my appearance. “Don’t let me look like that! If I do, drag me away by my ear!”
Thank you! So uplifting and true. From my ( very short) research, it seems the "poverty gospel" is being poor, or having very few possessions in order to be closer to Christ or more godly. That we should not try to prosper ourselves or do well according to the worlds standards. It just seems like there's so much there, but if one finds oneself feeling guilty just because you want to have some comforts, nice things, and look nice..it doesn't sit right.
That living in a tent and having 2 dresses is sufficient and any more would be greed, and I mean this literally, not figuratively! I don't know how this edifies.
God bless you๐๐งก๐ก
I guess I should add from my reading, the bottom line seemed to be, if you have almost nothing you are more holy. I was under this teaching at some point and I am learning different. I hope this topic isn't burdensome!
Ok that gives me enough to get some conversation about it. Thanks so much.
Thank you.๐ก๐๐
Lady Lydia, thank you for the thought provoking discussion today. I do wish more clothing retailers provided dresses with more feminine, colorful prints in natural fabrics. Most are plastic fabrics and so dark. They really are drab and uninspiring, or so cheaply made that the fabric is thin and see-through.
I appreciate your longer videos so much. They keep me company during meal preparation or chores. Sometimes it's delightful to have you along as I sit a spell to rest and knit. Thank you for being good company.
Lady Amy, Thank you very much for!
Hello, Lydia!
I am inspired by your lovely outfit today, and it shows that even with modern clothing choices, we are still able to dress in a way that is elegant and refined. When I go to town tomorrow, I am going to stop by the dollar store to see if I can find a pretty scarf like yours!
Blessings and happy Fall!! ❤️

Eileen thank you. I hope you find a pretty scarf.
Hello Lydia, if you see this message Oct. 10, I wanted to share that the Townsend's channel on You Tube is having a "History of Tea" on the Nutmeg Tavern Live as they call it at 3:00 CT
Might be fun to watch/listen.
Have a bless day all.

I was thinking how the lovely photo of your granddaughter and her friends was made so because of the sweet long skirts and beautiful long hair. So feminine yet unfussy and natural. ๐ฉท
