Homemaker Support: A Cheerful Heart

Hello Ladies,

This video discusses ideas for the home, as well as the homemaker's attitude, particularly those who hear pessimistic remarks.

This speech is created to hear while you  are occupied with various chores at home.

Here is the music I referred to:

Here are more verses.  I highlighted the words I quoted:

  1. My Jesus, as Thou wilt! Oh, may Thy will be mine!
    Into Thy hand of love I would my all resign;
    Through sorrow, or through joy, conduct me as Thine own,
    And help me still to say, “My Lord, Thy will be done.”
  2. My Jesus, as Thou wilt! If needy here and poor,
    Give me Thy people’s bread, their portion rich and sure;
    The manna of Thy Word Let my soul feed upon;
    And if all else should fail, my Lord, Thy will be done.
  3. My Jesus, as Thou wilt! Though seen through many a tear,
    Let not my star of hope grow dim or disappear;
    Since Thou on earth hast wept, and sorrowed oft alone,
    If I must weep with Thee, my Lord, Thy will be done.
  4. My Jesus, as Thou wilt! All shall be well for me;
    Each changing future scene I gladly trust with Thee:
    Straight to my home above I travel calmly on,
    And sing, in life or death, “My Lord, Thy will be done.”

Question, LYdia: you only use the cleaning vinegar in your washing machine? NO detergent?

this video was very meaningful to me...thanks Lydia. Keep looking up.

Yes, I have some in a spray bottle for cleaning the surfaces and the glass top stove and the windows. The scent disappears and every one breathes better without the detergents . No drain problems, no plumbing problems. No water sitting or slow to drain

Thanks Lisa, our figures of speech and sayings have almost been lost due to lack of use and lack of hearing them! What about “stewing in their own juice” a rather macabre sentiment but made people avoid cooking their own goose or self destructing

"When you find your heart growing sad, divert yourself without a moment's delay:make a visit, enter into conversation with those around you, read some amusing book, take a walk, sing, do something, it matters not what, provided you close the door of your heart against this terrible enemy. As the sound of a trumpet gives the signal for a combat, so sad thoughts apprise the devil that a favorable moment has come for him to attack us ". I remembered this excellent piece of advice from St Francis of Sales (1567-1622) as a remedy for sadness.

I've read, maybe in your blog, that Victorian ladies, as soon as they started feeling a bit depressed, tidied up a closet and that made them feel better and more able to face life's challenges.

Hello Lydia! Your talk on negative conversations and being around people who are has really taught me a few things to watch for. I have a lovely friend, and I often want to be around her, but struggle. Now I know why. She is often correcting me or putting down what I say. I don't need influences like that! Thanks to you I see that.

Also, my complaining at home. I find it's the only place I really let loose, but what doesn't that do for my home and what does my husband hear so often?
There is enough negative, I am going make this week's goal to limit my negative and complaint. (Even the menopausal joint pain!)

Hugs to you,
Dee

PS. You were in the laundry with me, in the kitchen and sat quietly and waited while I rested after lunch. What a wonderful ministry and gift you have given me.

Perhaps I will discuss ways to reply to these people who correct you, are sour, & how you will go home with the same attitude & start the same at home!

When I listened to this video I was reminded of the poem by Edgar Guest entitled "It Couldn't Be Done". I spend a significant part of my days alone so it is nice to have a like-minded woman on in the background. I was preserving jam while listening.

I'll quote that poem for future video!!
