By Wisdom a House is Built, What Your Appearance Tells Others, Because He Lives

(painting: Edmund Blair Leighton)

By wisdom a house is built,
    and by understanding it is established;
by knowledge the rooms are filled
with all precious and pleasant riches.
Proverbs 24:3-6

Dearest Lydia,

A million thanks for speaking to us at home again today!!!! It truly is a blessing to visit your home and see the lovely guest room in the background. You have given me many ideas for decorating my own home through these videos. You are like my own personal home interior consultant!🙂You mentioned your room without a T.V. — I also have the luxury of a “sitting room” with no television or devices of any kind. In one corner, I have my tea table set up and ready to practice hospitality at a moment’s notice.

I LOVED the reading from the eclectic reader about being an amiable, friendly person. A man or woman who has friends must show himself/ herself friendly as the scripture says. I believe that verse is in Proverbs. The verse you quoted from the same book is worthy to be cross stitched on a sampler and hung in a special place as a constant reminder.

I am glad to hear your church is holding services. There hasn’t been any of that in our state. However, several churches are now holding services in their parking lot. I am sure Christians are slowly waking up to the underlying issues behind all this.

With thanks and appreciation for all the encouragement and blessings,
Holly

You are the first comment Holly!
We decided at church when this first started that we would keep things normal and give people a choice. They could assemble together or not. We created a phone call that they could hear if they chose to be home, but only two people did it. And I also still enjoy the teatime every week with the ladies class. Yes, we know what is behind it. Where I live, people never stopped their lives and the stores were open and the bikes were selling like crazy. People out and about enjoying the parks and wildlife and going fishing, etc.

During this time of Shelter In Place, I have enjoyed your Homemaker Radio more and more! It's like have a friend come to visit me.

I have taken a lot of your advice, like wearing gloves (not a mask) and getting completely
dressed before I leave my bedroom. It feels so good when I go shopping or even out to get the mail.

I am grateful for your hard work and advice you have given us.

Dressing sweetly and femininely is so important, and even more now that warm weather, the perfect excuse for going around half naked, is near.
I always remember the comment of one of my children's teacher. One day I told him something about our church, and he said: "I knew, I knew you were believers. There was always something about you, about your way of dressing and moving around... I knew just by looking at you". And he smiled at me.

Thank you for your pleasant company Mrs. Sherman. I especially enjoyed your reading from the book "With Thanks and Appreciation."

The 'Victoria' books I ordered, at your recommendation, have arrived, and I am enjoying them so much. White rooms, creating personal spaces, and the bath as a place of pampering. I am so grateful to be able to purchase each for less than $4, including shipping. That is less than I can buy a magazine for these days, and no advertising!

Remembering your lovely sewing projects from days gone by, I have been drawing plans for beautiful & modest additions to my wardrobe. Currently they center around a pinafore pattern that I can wear over my dresses for indoor days, or over my leggings/jeans that protect me on days I work outside on yard & garden. We have really awful creeping, biting & stinging insects here, so i have learned the need to protect myself, yet I dont feel comfortable being seen outside the house in jeans/leggings, so this fingertip length pinafore made in pretty florals from my stash may be just the needed touch. Thank you for your inspiration.

Blessings.

Thank you for another good talk. I listened to this one while I unloaded the dishwasher, tidied up the kitchen, and made supper.

I plan to get caught up on more of your talks over the coming days. You've really gotten good at them, and besides that, it's so nice during this time to hear a friend's voice in the kitchen with me.

I will be merciful and let this comment remain short. ;)
