Living on the Upside During Bad News

Hello Dear Ladies,
I hope you will try to enjoy a sunrise, at least once, just to say you did it, to experience it, and to write about it in your daily gratefulness journal.
"The Jane Austen Diet" book has a chapter about "the blue light" comparing the detrimental artificial blue light to the benefits of natural blue light before sunrise.

One definition of blue light:

"During the blue "hour", red light passes through space while blue light is scattered in the atmosphere, and thus reaches Earth's surface. Blue hour usually lasts about 20–96 minutes right after sunset and right before sunrise. Time of year, location, and air quality all have an impact on the exact timing of blue hour."

The five one-minute "start" activities I spoke of could be:
-personal preparation (bathing, dressing, grooming)
-prayer
-stretches (find some illustrated on the web)
-a formal cup of tea or favorite refreshment
-write one thing in your gratefulness journal

I hope you are doing well in your current circumstances and have great plans for improvement.

I referred to a quote by General Douglas MacArthur  (1880-1964). See more of his meaningful quotes HERE. Print them and keep in a notebook.

I am concerned for the security of our great Nation; not so much because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within. - Douglas MacArthur

Today I addressed the problem of letting bad news keep you uneasy at home.

I included lyrics to the following songs we used to listen to "in the olden days" which put our minds on things that were happy and hopeful:
Hymns: (listen) SE Samonte channel

Popular songs: lyrics: Keep on the Sunny Side of Life --listen here
lyrics: It's A Good Day Listen here
lyrics: An Ant Can't Listen here
lyrics: The Impossible Dream Listen here

Uplifting things to hear that will inspire and elevate your mind at home.

Please enjoy your day at home while you listen, and you know you can pause it anytime and take it up another time.

I love your  comments and I hope to come back soon!! Thank you for your encouragement and for all you do for me.

Dear Lydia,

After watching my 11 month old grand baby today, I came home feeling quite vital, like a grandma, even though I cherish my time with him. Having more than just a bit of fatigue, I decided to check in at the manse and do nothing but listen to the broadcast and soak in a hot tub with epsom salt. While listening, I could feel my battery recharging and my spirits lifting!! Thank you so very much, Lydia, for all the encouragement you’ve given me tonight! You are the best homemaker coach in the world!!
Tomorrow, I plan to stay on the sunny side, singing and whistling while I work. 😊

Blessings,❤️Holly

Oh, you’ve been so missed! Thank you for making another video. I have been feeling down about the little nation which is the apple of God’s eye. I know there’s nothing I can do about it so I mustn’t let it consume me. I was actually hoping you’d weigh in on that because you always encourage listeners to spend their energies on what is directly in their care and sphere. That’s what God has given us! So, I pray earnestly and then leave all in His capable hands and get back to my work at hand.
So good to hear from you again!❤️

This was such a beautiful broadcast thank you for all of your encouragement. You look so lovely, I enjoy seeing your beautiful dresses. The little time for tea book in your pictures looks so charming, who is the author?

This was what I needed this morning! Bad news can demand that we give it all our attention and that we believe that everything is terrible. That was how my day started today:(
But like the Bible story of the spies scouting out the promised land, when 10 saw all the bad things and 2 saw the good, we can see the good, see God instead! And like a previous comment, pray and leave these things to God, hoping in Him. (I'm talking to myself, lol!)
Keep up the good work and thank you for encouraging us homemakers. I am newly empty nesting as my children are out on their own now. Many have asked me, "What are you going to do now that you're not homeschooling?" but I am really loving being home and am grateful I do not have to go "somewhere else". I do sometimes feel a little guilty, so your blogs encourage me a lot.

Dear Lydia, I enjoyed this talk so much. I really appreciate all the positive content you share with us - I especially enjoyed listening to those cheerful songs! They were delightful. There is someone in my life who is dreadfully negative on a daily basis, and is constantly yelling at me about the latest thing the politicians are doing...but I prefer to ignore all that and just be happy and focus on my own life. So it's so nice to listen to someone with a positive outlook on life instead. And you've provided so many nice links for us to explore. Thank you for the inspiration - I am going to try my best to keep on the sunny side of life this week!

I listened to Peggy Lee's version of It's a Good Day. Loved it!
