Unusual "trash" Crafts

I was going through my picture file collection and found this. I do not remember what craft site it came from. It is a purse made from a Kraft macaroni dinner box, embellished withfabrics and sewing trims. I don't know the instructions, and I probably would never get a boxed dinner and I don't eat macaroni, but the idea is very creative!

There has been a big computer-parts switcheroo around here, with some people in the family needing screens, and others keyboards for various work places and other things, and so I have been adjusting to a different keyboard and screen, hence my lack of entries these days. Also, I have been getting the house more orderly and trying to catch up on some sewing. I hope to do several posts soon, including the request from the lady who commented about managing a home life when your husband has a job that takes him a way most of the time.

Hello,

What a cute little purse! I really enjoy the craft ideas you share. When I was growing up, my mother spent time making all sorts of wonderful craft project with us.

Most projects didn't cost a penny and provided hours of fun. We also learned all sorts of skills.

Take Care,

Trixie

How cute.

That's great that you are passing on your skills to a young girl. I'm sure a lot of women would love to spend time sharing sewing and craft tips with a younger girl, and many girls would love the opportunity. If you don't mind my asking, how did you work out so that you are getting to share with your young friend?

I really like the little pink purse and can see me making it with my granddaughters. I have also been working on some of those sparkly cards you posted about awhile back, but my pictures and construction paper are so wrinkly. What kind of glue do you use? I've tried a glue roller ball thingy, and also tacky glue. I really like the glitter glue, and have even torn pictures from paper towels to glitter glue down. Just can't figure out the wrinkly photo thing . . .

I never would have thought to use a macaroni box and turn it into a purse...interesting...

I have seen on another blog a woman who makes purses or grocery bags out of bandanas. It was neat.

I hope you have a fun craft filled week!

God bless you,
Dawn

This is very clever. I always like ideas for making things that use up what's on hand. Right now, I have 2 books out from the library dealing with scrap sewing & scrap crafts. Lots of good ideas!

Elizabth,

I can not exactly remember how it came about. It was a woman who was homeschooling her only child. Like my daughter, after the basic studies are done, there is not a lot of time or energy left to do sewing or crafts or any kind of creativity. The girl came home with me one day from the Ladies Bible Class and she hand-sewed an apron. I think I was just going to do it once, and she just started coming every week, instead. You could invite the mothers and daughters once only, and serve tea and have a small, simple project for them (such as a hand sewn potholder that can be completed in that time frame. If you do an interesting project, that is colorful and fun (cloth runners, placemat, coaster, ) someone might want to come back the next week.

There is an artist who creates beaded works of common items, one of which was a macaroni box...another a pepsi can..we all decide what is art and what is trash...thanks for the great post!

I love the purse! I have a 2 year old who would love playing with one of these. And since I have a 2 year old we eat a lot of mac and cheese. Thanks for the idea!

Lovely purse! For whatever reason, it has been several months since I have read your blog but now that I "found" it again, I would like to comment to say that your blog is the most restful and calming one I have ever read! The verse you have at the top of your blog is very fitting. :) Thank you SO much for being such an encouragement and guidance to my generation (I am 18 years old) to stand against the tide of the feministic modern culture and be instead feminine, Godly homemakers.

You never would have guessed what that little bag was originally! This is a great blog by the way!

I was wanting to know if you would be interested in adding my link to your 'Especially for Feminists and Students (links to help understand the falsehood of feminism' section.

I am very sorry, to have to contact you this way, but I am having trouble contacting you through comcast.

My blog teaches femininity and is basically promoting the femininity movement. I would be so appreciative if you checked it out; http://theartofbeingfeminine.blogspot.com/

Of course I'd be happy to link to you. Thanks so much... Melina :-)

when time permits, I will add the link. I am learning a different computer and it is driving me nuts. I have not been posting as often!
