I love the table runner, it's absolutely beautiful!

Yes beautiful! That reminds me of some of the older Ladies in my family who embroidered almost every bit of fabric in the house. As well as making their own dresses and quilts. And had pretty framed embroidery on wall. I have a few pieces of their work which I treasure.

I'd love to make the runner for the top of my piano and the pillow could be made into quilt panels. You have the pretties ideas.

These crafts make your home truely your home. Completely unique from another's. You can add your favorite flowers or colors to match your other decorating choices. Also you can turn an item you have had and are growing tired of into something new to look at! :) Now a days we don't see such beauty as often as it used to be shown. Some of these designs can be done as a beginner and right away you have made something beautiful and useful.

The very first needlecraft my mother taught me was embroidery. I still remember, sitting on the porch in the summertime, embroidering small napkins that had the blue printed design on them. My sister & I would also make things, like little pillows & such (stuffed with dryer lint!) for our dolls.

I've dabbled in a good many other crafts, & knitting is by far my favorite. My mother taught me that, too. :o) I think it's a good investment of time for mothers to show their young children how to do these things. Even if a particular craft or activity doesn't "take" with said children, the seeds of creativity are sown, as well as a "can do" kind of attitude. And they learn a respect & regard for our forebears who, in the days before mass-produced goods, had to know how to turn their hands to many, many things just to stay alive!
