Natural Skin Scrub

Painting by Susan Rios http://www.susanriosdesign.com/index

Being without water during a snow storm, I discovered something quite nice. I needed to wash my hands, and after rubbing snow all over them, they felt very soft. It was also very effective on my face, so I used it for a bath treatment and it was like an exfoliant with minerals, very refreshing, energizing in a youthful way. I also swept the floors with snow and it seemed to make them shinier and smoother. I have not found anything miraculous about snow, but I was happy it was so useful. I even scrubbed out a tough stain in an article of clothing.

We still have no water in the kitchen or laundry room and no hot water in the bathroom, but after applying the snow scrub, I felt I had been to a spa. Everyone is in the same predicament in our area, and the plumbing parts are sold out of most of the stores, since nearly everyone had problems with the water.

Last year I reminiced about the old times when we made ornaments from egg carton cups, (usually bells covered in foil) and I made a tea cup. This year I cut a teaspoon from the egg carton and added it to the cup ornament. I have painted it with craft paint and added a layer of decoupage for shiny ess and waterproofing, and then outlined with scribbles paints, in gold glitter.

Today I am catching up on housekeeping after being sick for quite awhile. I finished a smaller fleece snowman.

The hat and scarf are sewn on to the snowman. Below is a photo of the pattern I used, not give you an idea if size and shape. It is a piece of regular printer paper. Make two pieces on folds, sew together and stuff.

Thank you so much for this snow cleansing information! Praying for you and all the area to soon have the water problems repaired and all back to normal. The little snowman is just so cute.

I'm so glad you shared your snowman pattern. We have a quantity of white felt & I think this would make a very fun January project for my younger girls. I say January because life is too busy right now, and that month can be the real doldrums.

Thank you for having such a good attitude about the water and being sick and the solution with the snow. This is truly what helps us younger women to know how to act...by following your thankful, practical example. God bless you, always.

One does need to make the most out of any situation regardless - I often think of women in the past with out all the modcons that we now have and they seem to cope very well. We need to learn a few of the things they use to do for our own survival if the power goes off or the water isn't running.
