The Robin and the Sparrow

“The Robin and the Sparrow"

By Elizabeth Cheney, 1859

Said the robin to the sparrow,
“I should really like to know,
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so.”
Said the sparrow to the robin,
“Friend I think that it must be,
That they have no Heavenly Father,
Such as cares for you and me.”

The robin, above, is an eastern robin from Australia, and the pink robin, below, is a southeastern robin, also Australian.

I love this poem! My mom cross stitched it for my aunt in the 60s and I found the kit on eBay to make one for myself, I also have it on a painted plaque.

I'm no bird expert, but will hazard a guess and say finch. As to which finch, I don't know any of their names. Last summer a little finch family made it's home in a gap in one of our retaining walls. They are such beautiful birds to watch.

I will put the name of the bird under the photo on the main post today.

Oh my, what beautiful birds! I so love watching the sweet birds :) Have you ever noticed how happy a robin is when it's raining...he simply sings and enjoys the moment.

Have a wonderful day, Lydia!

Such a sweetly graphic reminder of our Father God's care for the Believer.

Thank you Lydia for posting about how our heavenly Father loves and cares for us and using sweet little birds to illustrate this fact.

Our kitty caught a wren once and I took it from her and set it free. Got bit by the cat for it. But it was worth the pain to see the grateful little bird saved from from death.

I'm sure it must have been worth the pain of seeing his son Jesus die for us and make his heart glad to see us free. What joy it must give him when we thank and praise him for it.

Janet.
