Everyone Dressed Before Anything, Home Life Naturally, The Economy in Biblical Perspective, Tea Time

Many of the books published by Victoria in the 1990's had lovely end-papers
like this one I reviewed today in the video:

This is the YOUTUBE LINK I recommended in the video.

Mrs.Sherman, you have been asking for comments for the last few videos I have listened to so here is my 2 cents: I love listening to the homemaking radio! Just love it! I listen your videos while I go on my daily walk, I listen to you after the children go to bed and I’m still finishing up cleaning the kitchen or picking up the house. I’m a new homeschooler, we started at the end of February and anything you say about your homeschooling experience I take it to heart. I’m very fascinated of all the common knowledge you have about the basic principles of how to have a happy childhood. Oh, and I just loved that one video where you read the Queen Rides By, it was like a description of my own life and what a difference the appearance and creating an enjoyable atmosphere at home has made in our lives. Thank you for everything!

Hi Lydia,
I have recently discovered your homemaking radio talks. It is so refreshing to hear your refined and dignified approach to homemaking as a worthy profession! I am a homeschooling mother of 8, 2 married so far and 3 grandchildren. I still homeschool the youngest 2, ages 8 and 15.. But since I have no more tiny children it is hard to feel as "valued" as I did a few years back, as I had babies for many years. As a future empty nester I can imagine it being even more difficult to find purpose.
Homemaking has never come naturally to me and your channel is definitely encouraging about the value of a clean house, routine etc. Your recent video challenged me to axe out the media I have been over=watching in the last few months, also.I have a couple of questions...is there a video of a tour of your home? Everything in the backgrounds looks so very beautiful and elegant.
I also have a question about living with a 'difficult' mate. One who gets upset and negative quite a lot. :-( any advice how to deal with someone who can be boistrous and bossy? Thanks again for your time and encouragement.

This tea cup is so gorgeous. I love the simple plain exterior with the lush floral inside...sort of a secret garden.

Is "rationing" a word you might have been searching for in describing the lines for goods in communism/socialism? Where someone else (the governmnet) determines how much you are allocated? Yet the government officials never lack for luxuries and abundance...ever! Our people are so uneducated about the realities of socialism/fascism/communism. The history has been forgotten or suppressed, or worse, intentionally ignored.

Dear Lydia,

Your frequent visits are all the more precious to me these days. Thank you for your Love for Christ, the church, the Word, the women that listen and learn from you, the home, and all things domestic, creative, and God glorifying!

Happy to see and hear some of the things you’ve been doing to keep your home an enduring place of comfort and peace. I loved the little prairie dress for your granddaughter, too! The Lord has given you a wonderful talent in sewing.

Until we visit again, I will keep on watching, praying, cooking, cleaning, crafting, and of course, drinking lots of tea.๐Ÿ™‚

Blessings,

Dear Lady Lydia,

Helped me so much.

Thank you very, very, very much.

I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how much I enjoy your blog. I listen to your videos almost daily. You have really encouraged me in being more motivated and to look nicer. It is so easy to get into an “I don’t care” attitude. I try to do things more purposefully now. I even cleaned out my fridge while listening to you! I listen while I dust, fold clothes and wash the dishes. I have a family of 5, with two grown children and one still under 10 so I have much to do!

I am glad I found your blog. I feel like I have made a new friend. I do wish I had someone like you close to talk to. I find myself needing encouragement more and more these days with everything going on. So many days I find myself so anxious with things going on around me. I do not like all the mandates being imposed upon us but I do want this virus to pass. I fear something much bigger is going on than just a pandemic. I believe it may be more of a spiritual warfare taking place. What are your thoughts on that? I know so many of the things happening of late the Bible warns of taking place in the last days.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your videos and they do help me to get much accomplished! Hope you enjoy this LORD’s day. Its raining and gloomy where I live but the sun is supposed to “come out” later.

Blessings,

Crystal

Thank you for continuing to do your videos. They are such a blessing. I am so grateful that you are bringing some of these topics to light, as the MSM certainly is not.

"Fear though not, for I am with thee: be not afraid, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, and help thee, and will sustain thee with the right hand of my justice. "

God bless you and your readers!

Hi Lady Lydia,

Again I listened to your "radio show."

Again it was great.

I don't have this kind of input into my life, this perspective. It is
very needed.

My wedding china is Lennox so I enjoyed the mention of Lennox yesterday.

Your personality and good character shines....you are a "class act."

Am going to find a way to go for a walk today with my family, even if
it's a bit chilly.

Hugs from Canada,

Carolyn

Good morning Lady Lydia!
I just wanted to take a minute and thank you for Homemaker Radio. I am a homeschooling veteran as well, and now an empty nester. Ive followed your blog since it started...way back in the olden days! (LoL) and have been encouraged and inspired by your articles. Now, its so pleasant to 'visit' with you through Homemaker Radio. Not only do I learn something new, but Im delighted with the tea cups, books and storytelling. Even though there are some lovely homemakers out there doing videos, it is encouraging to have have you speaking from an older woman's perspective, which is so needed and precious. I usually listen to a video as I'm getting dressed for the day and making my bed... to get my mind focused on pleasant things, and to remind me of why I'm a homemaker and to encourage me in the fact that I'm not alone in this beautiful profession of Homemaking.

Dear Lydia, I have so many comments to make and so many votes to give you that I might be here till Mother's Day if I do. Firstly, I love the fact that you refuse to have comments on your youtube channel, which certainly must frustrate the minions of darkness who love to play on there. Too bad for them! Also, you do not edit anything and for the reasons you say - that if we were talking across from each other we would be mentally editing out things and not letting them detract from the message/conversation. Brava! Also, editing, I hear, is really tedious and time-consuming, so who needs that? So, to comment on your various themes, getting dressed right away is such a challenge and yet so necessary. I don't remember if I wrote to you already about this incident I witnessed but last Fall there was a fender bender on the side of the road where I live. One of the parties was sitting on the side of the road waiting for a ride or the tow truck or something. He was an older man, 50's at least, and unfortunately, he was wearing very loud, kind of silly pajama pants along with a tee shirt. It was obviously his nightclothes. I guess he thought he'd run out for a second for one thing or another, and bang, a car accident! That was a good object lesson for me. Another thing I wanted to comment on was the various levels of quarantine around the country and the compliance issue. Yesterday someone posted online their town's newspaper talking about how and why you should turn your neighbors in for noncompliance. I asked them if this paper was from Stalingrad, circa 1960. Fear does strange things. This slides right in there with your discussion of those who overdo the negativity.

You can't delete the YouTube comments! You can't moderate anything and they can just take off with your vlog and turn it into nothing. Blogs are the best media for now.

Lydia,
I love every teacup and saucer you show at the beginning of your video. It would be too much work, I know, but it would be so much fun for you to put them all out together. You have such a wonderful collection. Since I was born in Britain, I drink tea all day long. Thank you for continuing to make these videos during our pandemic.
You are an encouragement to all of us.

Lydia said...

Yes dear Stephanie, I will do that on my next post, at least part of the china cupboard. Keep drinking hot tea. For many reasons.

Hello Lydia, I have been enjoying listening to Homemaker Radio on YouTube. Your teacup is lovely. A book you may enjoy, if you haven't read it yet, is entitled Mrs. Sharp's Traditions, by Sarah Ban Breathnach. She talks about Victorian family traditions, and there is also nice artwork in it.
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos.

I have that book!! I even reviewed it one time. It was revised into another book called Victorian Celebrations and Traditions.

Lydia I love your videos! I feel so good after listening to you! I am behind on videos as well as housework so I should get caught up on both pretty quickly.

Thank you Betsy. I'm trying not to mention the war, but not doing a great job of it ;-)
