Home: A Higher Purpose; History, Literature

Hello Ladies, I wanted to come here sooner but it is planting season and it has taken up a lot of time. I managed to talk a little today to keep you company while you are busy with your home. I also read a little of Wives and Daughters.

I normally work around the house when I listen to you but this time, I'm listening while I recover from eye surgery. It's perfect for inspiration and friendly company.
Thank you for all your efforts and time. ❤

Christine, Home recovering is a time when a lot of people resort to constant television news, which can add to their recovery problems!! So I hope you'll continue listening and also go to the playlist on the sidebar and let it play automatically to the older ones. I also have some older, ten minute videos not on the playlist , which you might be able to find. When possible, I'll put them on another playlist.

Lydia, it's been years I think that I've commented. Still, I have listened to your videos from the beginning. I've been decluttering, folding clothes and washing dishes in the last few days maybe over a week, all while listening to your wisdom, and have sent links on a couple of Facebook groups in the church for other homekeepers to listen and learn, too. Keep up this good work!

My 21 year old daughter is home for university for the summer, and I listened to this talk while I made her favourite meal, a chicken and pasta casserole.

I want to tell you, Lydia, that you looked so youthful and vibrant in this video. And your lacy dress is so pretty!

I know what you mean about living in the country. The farm equipment is really loud, and also for us, our neighbour across the road drives an 18-wheeler, which isn't exactly silent when he goes out early in the morning. Another surprise for us was that the air isn't always quite as fresh as we were hoping. The farmers right around us spray various chemicals on their fields throughout the year, and it doesn't all smell like roses. There's also a pig farm a few miles away, and when the wind is right - yikes! However, there are good smells too...such as the scent of new-cut hay. Right now I am enjoying quite a beautiful scent, as the peony bush I planted several years ago finally bloomed, and I've brought several branches into the house. It smells like a perfume shop in here now! :)

Sharon R. So nice to see you again, and also very nice of you to notify others of this site. I do not have a huge audience but I feel there are just enough ladies reading and watching.

Laura Jeanne, the winter is quiet in the country, I think. Still, the farm production noise indicates that things are normal in the world. When that stops, you know there really is something to be concerned about. But I have sat here and watched out my window from the beginning of all this political stuff, and seen the fields planted and the cows fed, without any pause.

Hi Lydia, I loved your video today. Gosh your hair looks wonderful. Perhaps your bangs might be a bit shorter. I'm still working on not watching the telly too much. You are right, three years from now, the news will be entirely different and still have us stirred up like hornets. It is for me a work in progress to not watch too much...

Dear Lydia,

Thank you for sharing scripture verses with us. Today’s verse in Colossians is one I have aspired to live by for years. I wouldn’t be a keeper at home without the foundational truths of the Word of God instructing, guiding, and encouraging me in my role as a woman. I am grateful you come alongside of us and cheer us on, sort to speak, with practical wisdom and advice as a veteran homemaker.

I live out in the country, too, and I can tell you it was noisy here this morning with Sandhill cranes crooning, tractors rumbling, and birds happily chirping! I decided to forget about another hour of sleep and just get up and start my day. 😏All was good, however, since I saw you had another homemaker video I could listen to.

I watched a movie last night from the Victorian era...”Music Man.” The setting and costumes were outstanding. There was a lot of singing and the old barbershop quartets. I loved that it had a very happy ending and lacked all the sensationalism you talked about with Elizabeth Gaskell.

I love your visits via the internet, Lydia. They are a solace and comfort amidst the challenging, chaotic times in which we live.

Blessings,
Holly
