Things You Can Control, Homestead Story

Hello,

This is a 20 minute video with a few things about dressing at home and keeping the home.

Please note about the book I discussed: It was suggested by a few people that I read it, but I do not actually recommend it for homeschool or the homemaker. There are some parts in it that are quite horrifying as there naturally would be in a book about war. I was reviewing it in light of the “battle” of daily life.

Lydia, your words of encouragement are a soothing balm to my mind at this time of distress in our world. We homeschooled from birth and our two children were the biggest blessings the Lord has given to me and my husband. Both our mothers were naysayers and cruel with their words and actions, encouragement was not given. Women need to trust in the Lord with ALL their hearts!!!!!! Again, thank you so very much for giving of your heart and love to all of us.

I enjoyed this video. I am grateful for the reminder of guarding against naysayers. It reminds me of a video you did sometime back regarding how we speak to others and how our friends speak to us. If we let them speak to us in those negative ways it will bring our spirit down, and I loved when you said "we don't need people like that in our life.". It caused me to pause and look at these friendships. They were superficial anyways! So, I don't do much with them now. I still speak with them, but I prefer to not have lingering lunches etc with them.

You are such a blessing.

Hugs,
Dee

Dear Lydia,

I am so refreshed and encouraged by your videos. Today I had to go to town to pick up my groceries, when I came home I was a bit frazzled. So, I cleaned my kitchen and listened to one of your videos. What a breath of fresh air!

I enjoy hearing about your growing up in Alaska. Hearing how families before us overcame difficulties and actually thrived is a beautiful thing. It gives so much hope and joy. (I remember years ago reading your blog and I think you took a trip to your folks' homestead. Is that right?)

My youngest son saw my computer open to your page, he saw your pumpkins and thought they were very pretty. He decided to make some to put around our house to celebrate harvest time. They look great. : )

Thank you for taking the time to share with us!

Isaiah 26:3-4
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
1 Peter 2:16
Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.

Thank you for this encouragement. I need to not sink beneath what's happening to America! I loved the excerpt about war strategy and especially the excerpt from your book! Always your talks bless me. Thank you! (Making breakfast here in PA while listening) 🙂♥️
