Home is a Great Appointment

Greetings and welcome to the Manse on this cloudy, snowy day.

In this broadcast, I talked about making life at home important by treating the day as a great appointment.
I also read a chapter from Bryan Koslowski's book, "The Jane Austen Diet" concerning tea.

I hope you will get a few things done at home while you listen:

Oh yes...It Happened on 5th Avenue (1947) Love that one! I just posted an entry about that one on December 18th with a list of other sweet Christmas movies! Brilliant minds think alike! *big smile*

Homeschooling, yes as a homeschool mom your thoughts are spot on. I've ran across interesting things and I agree, I never rushed their childhoods.

Your thoughts from Jane Austen on tea has prompted me to make myself some Candy Cane Lane tea that I am sipping now from a new cup set my daughter gave me for Christmas.

God bless, hope all is well, as usual enjoyed your talk. Hope you had a sweet Christmas. Amelia from My Forest Cathedral blogspot.

Dearest Lydia,

like a gift waiting to be opened, I joyfully listened to 2 full hours of Homemaker radio today! 😊How happy and motivated you have made me today. I knew after all the guests left and returned to their own homes, I would need an extra lift. Your last 2 episodes came at exactly the right time, leaving me refreshed and motivated. I especially appreciated your closing admonishment to keep close to the LORD. Yes, He is our peace.

These recent broadcasts encapsulated all the beauty and culture we can create in our own homes, despite what’s going on with the world. Thank you for sharing the lovely, inspiring rooms of your home! It looks so cheerful and cozy and inviting. I wish I lived close enough to participate in one of your home tours, but you are so very kind to show us what you can through the internet.

In closing, I want to wish you a happy, blessed NewYear. These talks have gotten me off to a good start in 2022!

Love in Christ,
Holly

Hello lovely Lydia - thank you so much for posting those wonderful pictures of the snow and your home!!! I'm sitting here with the ceiling fans on, in a sleeveless summer dress and trying to imagine cold air!! Just looking at them makes me feel a bit cooler anyway - just so beautiful they are!! You are very much appreciated by many of us that come and spend our time watching your inspiring vlogs Lydia!!

Dear Lydia,
Again, I just want to say thank you so much for your videos and blog, they have been keeping me encouraged and motivated in my home to my innermost being!
While listening this week I folded my laundry, did some ironing, and colored in my new scripture coloring book (10 bucks at Walmart), using color pencils.
My daughter and granddaughter (whom I haven't seen in over two years, they live out of state), came over for breakfast the other day. Excitedly, I made them Belgium waffles, eggs, bacon etc., and even dressed feminine with a skirt. The skirt is linen, light tan, with pretty soft colored stripes and my top is gold with ruffles at the end of the sleeves. Haha, nobody said anything about it, they were in jeans. Even though, I always wear jeans, too. Also, I put a vase of fake flowers and sprayed floral scent in the bathroom for them. It was refreshing and fun being with them again.
God bless you and your family.
Take care,
Rose

I've been enjoying your recent talks while working in the kitchen (including while making a birthday cake), while folding laundry, and while scanning old photographs into the computer (I borrowed an old album of my parents from the 1980s for this purpose). I really appreciate all the encouragement for home school parents, and I especially like when you remind us of all the reasons to home school - it's good to be reminded for those times when it begins to feel a bit tiring and tedious. I too am guilty of sometimes worrying too much about academics, but in the end that isn't what's important at all, the kind of person they turn out to be is so much more important. Thank you for this reminder.
