I'm stealth sipping with my holly tea cup in the holly tree. The berries are very pretty but eating them can make animals and people very sick. I cut down the risk by not bringing them in the house for decoration. You can read more about the holly berries HERE.
Things I talked about today on the broadcast:
-Using your list as a guide, a grounded way of life, and a defense against things that would distract you and waste time.
- Doing things that make the home a place you don't want to leave. I might be able to go into more details in a future broadcast.
-How pressure and haste are tactics of "sales" to encourage instant decisions you may regret. I am planning to talk about this more, because sometimes homemakers, who are naturally accommodating to other people and their needs, are pressured to make commitments that they later regret. The homemaker needs to guard her time, so that thing she wants to do and needs to do, are not neglected when there is a sudden invitation of urgency and haste.
-I related one scenario where homemakers were caught off guard regarding time and place of an event and the duration of the activities. I have other similar stories to tell in future broadcasts. Although unpleasant memories for the parents who got caught uninformed, they are good lessons for us at home.
-Learn to relax at home as if it was a vacation spot.
-Find a pose, stretch or exercise for anything that ails you and practice it once.
-I read about the subject of Courtesy in Victorian historical perspective , in the book "Simple Social Graces" by Linda Lichter.
Please enjoy your home while you listen:

Listened to one new episode and I really liked the background info on
how to view housekeeping!
Then I listened to an older episode and I really enjoyed hearing about
overcoming discouragement and also about a poem which I have
since looked up "I asked God for..." and then was given...etc.
Thanks Lydia!
Carolyn

Will put your comment in the posts. Thanks for clarifying that.
I found your channel from Homestead Tessie. I am enjoying your content immensely. I have been a SAHM for 18 years. I have 4 wonderful boys and a really great husband. I am so, so blessed. I have the life I always dreamed of but one big problem I can't find answers to in our modern age . I don't know how to deprogram the feminist thinking in my head. I can often become bitter at all I am doing. I see my husband as "doing nothing". Not helping me. Relaxing while I am working. I know this thinking is wrong but I need help in undoing it. I hate when bitterness rises up in me and I become resentful and unpleasant. Any old fashioned books, podcasts or YT channels that would help me? All the women I know in traditional marriages also feel this way and I have to protect myself from them because all they do is complain. Thanks in advance. Blessings, Heidi
This is a mind set so deeply imbedded within us by the culture, it may take some special techniques to get rid of it. Your comment gives me good content for the next video where I might explore some solutions.
Hello Lydia! I am still a couple videos behind, but I always go to the blog first to look at the pictures and read what the topics will be! I am excited about the sewing series! I need the little "kick" to make my day an improvement. I am older, or vital and have no children and my issue is not being motivated and these podcasts are a big help.
Blessing to all,
Michell
Dear lady Lydia,
Your talking about manipulation tactics reminded me of the ones used by some cults, training their members to reply this if you say that (they´re not even listening to you, they just want to make you pass through every step of their plan).
Some verses came to my mind: “Whoever believes will not be in haste” (Isaiah 28,16) and many others that encourage us to be happy, peaceful and calm people: “By waiting and by calm… in quiet and in trust shall be your strength” (Is. 30,15) and “everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty” (Prov. 21,5).
Your hints make a lot of sense especially at the beginning of this season, when we are tempted to stress the whole family by accepting invitations to many activities that are unnecessary and only add noise and vanity to family life.
Thank you, dear Lydia, for being a friend that understands how important it is for the homemaker to protect her time. I am always encouraged when I listen to your broadcasts because they help me to enjoy my home and family more than any activities that are going on out there. You give me permission and courage to just say, “ no” to the things that rob me of time, peace, and contentment. 😊
Hello Lydia,
As our weather is cooler, the sky is more overcast, and the daylight is shorter, your videos have been keeping me company! Thank you for the time you take to put these together and the thoughtfulness of each broadcast. I completely agree with you that God will provide for us if we aren't able to make something in a set time (a social gathering, sale at the store, etc.). It is important to make good habits of how we spend our time, and what we say yes to doing. Our family continues to put this into practice, and sometimes my husband and I need to remind one another of its truth and its benefit for all of us at home. Thanks for your timely reminder, too!
In Christ,
Jessica
