Oh Lydia your coat dress is lovely. Did you make it? I really enjoyed the reading from your book. You asked if we’d ever journaled a story. In 1986 my husband wanted to show our children where he grew up in Maine. We used an old motor home to travel from San Diego,California to Presque Isle, Ma. and up into New Brunswick, Canada. It was very hot and humid when we started out and traveling through the midwes. By the time we reached Maine, the weather had cooled and we were only dressed for hot weather. We visited many states and saw many landmarks along the way. I journaled the whole trip. It’s fun to look back on it all. We took many photos to go along with the journal also. Thank you for sharing with us from the Citizen’s Rule Book and stories of your childhood on the homestead in Alaska. I recognized some of the areas you mentioned. My aunt and uncle live in Alaska. Looking forward to hearing more stories from your book and being “homeschooled”. Janet Westrup
Thank you so much for doing all these wonderful videos. I so look forward to them. I learn a lot from you and you brighten my day considerably. God bless you!
I listened to this talk while I gave the kitchen a good clean and did a load of dishes. This is what I chose to do while my kids were away for the evening at a birthday party! :)
I really enjoyed listening to more of your book. And the Citizen's Handbook was also interesting. I wonder if there is a Canadian equivalent. I recently ordered a poster-size copy of our Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which is similar to your Constitution, so the children and I can study what our rights are as Canadian citizens.
Another book you may be interested in, Lydia, is a children's novel which is called "Little Leap Forward: A Boy in Beijing." It tells the story of the Cultural Revolution there in the 1960s, when the communist government began to take away everyone's freedoms and indeed tried to take away all the joy out of everyone's lives. I haven't read the book yet but I have ordered a copy, as it came highly recommended as a book to teach children about the evils of communism without being too upsetting.
