Keeping Focused, Living Our Faith

Please enjoy your home while you listen. Today I am talking about keeping focused, and how homemaking is part of our faith.

I like the words they use:  All Glory Be to Christ! Turn on the captions on the video to read or sing along with this beautiful song.

Dear Lydia,

I have been so busy with family I find myself questioning what day of the week it is!😐Your video talks have really helped with grounding me and reminding me to make my list. That way I am not walking around in a fog, but rather able to keep functioning even in the midst of a full house. I am still cleaning up after all the guests and expecting more overnight company again on Sunday. I loved clicking on continuous play yesterday to keep me focused and to keep me happily engaged with my housework. These are wonderful to listen to time and time again . THANK YOU!!!
Blessings in 2021 to you,

Thank you, Mrs. Sherman! I cleaned out our kitchen fridge and the back-up basement fridge, washed all of the leftover containers, put away groceries and made substantial progress on tidying and wiping down the pantry. Please keep the videos for the captives coming!

Dear Lydia, I am so appreciative of how the Lord uses you to bless us! I got all the Christmas decor put away yesterday while listening. Today I was thinking about the one grandmother who tidied each room as she went and swished the toilet bowl quick whether it needed it or not, so I did!

Thank you for sharing ideas on keeping our appearance lovely. Your reminders are very welcome! I want to ask you something more: what do you do about laundering your nice clothes when they are not fresh clean but not dirty? I hate to wash my nice things too much, but I can’t put them away iif they’re not fresh washed. My little second-grade students really seem to be uplifted when I dress beautifully for them though! You taught me that many years ago.
With love and appreciation,

Dear Lydia, I watched this video while I made supper. You look so pretty in this video! I love the way your hair looks when you put it up like that, and your sparkly sweater is just lovely.

Yes, I agree completely that the Church is the people, not the building, and that we can all worship at home when necessary. I personally find it a more meaningful experience to take communion at home in privacy, than to do it at church. Perhaps this is because it is more of a deliberate action of my own, rather than a following of what other people are doing.

Regarding Dover coloring books - they are wonderful! I know that most of them were first published some time ago, but I think most of them are still in print. They're wonderful for homeschooling especially as the drawings are so realistic and detailed. I especially like the ones about birds and wildlife. I have a whole stack of Dover coloring books, and when I want the kids to color something, I just photocopy the page I want.

Dear Lydia,

I have appreciated your recent talks. They really hold my interest and are the high point of many homemaking days here at my house.

I wanted to briefly comment about Home Interiors. I was a displayer for their beautiful products in the early 1980’s. The company was founded by a Christian woman, Mary Crowley. She said, “No home in America ever need be dull or unattractive.” The monthly business/ training seminars were always started with a word of prayer. This is something that was key to Mrs. Crowley’s success;Christ was the head CEO of her business. I have many relics from my bygone days in Home Interiors embellishing my own home. I have the old metal spectacles and the picture of the older gentleman praying and thanking the Lord for his daily bread. (You mentioned these items in today’s broadcast).Presently, I have simplified my decor as far as not grouping so many things together on one wall. After all, these can become quite the dust collectors if not maintained. However, my shelves with doilies and candle light, along with a simple picture, warms the atmosphere of my home greatly. I like to switch the pictures out depending on what season we are currently enjoying. I so wish I would have saved some of their catalogs. They went out in one of my purging bins years ago. 🙁

Thank you for your wonderful videos and the time you take to chat with us. I consider them an essential

I was so thankful for their catalogs. They displayed arrangements for the home portrayed spiritual values. Just looking through the booklets was a great uplifting thing .
