Thank you so much for putting in the time for these podcasts. I enjoy them and listen when I am in the bath, working in the kitchen, or working on a craft. I especially wanted to say thank you for pointing out that homemakers are not "free" in their time and it is ok to say no. I am older and it is just my husband and I, and people think I can "babysit" the older children for weeks in the summer. I have no issue with an emergency or watching a baby, but I do not have it in me to entertain older kids and drive everywhere. I said no this year and the relief was tremendous. It did take me awhile to release the anger and guilt they heaped on me, however it had to be done.
Blessings,
Michell

Dear Lydia,
I'm looking forward to listening to "Heartily at Home" later today!
In your previous talk on "DIY at Home" I found it very helpful where you shared about different ways and possibilities of making courses for oneself using items and books already on hand.
I also enjoyed listening to the story you read from the McGuffey reader about the little girl and writing her composition.
Thank you for all you shared and for keeping us company around our homes.
Have a lovely day!

Dear Lydia,
Maybe the reason for the Scriptures encouraging us to do everything heartily is found in that passage where we learn that we must do the good works we find because God himself prepared them for us to do (Eph.2,10). It´s similar to when we, mothers, sometimes hide some little gifts around the house or the garden for children to find them. I find this thought very comforting. Most of the time, there are little good works I find in my way that nobody else can or will do. If the good Lord put them there, then everything matters. That gives lots of inspiration and love to do every task in every day heartily.
Thank you so much for your messages. I´ve found particularly helpful your tip to prepare ourselves mentally for the day, to get our thoughts in order. There´s so much noise nowadays, but you´re right in the importance of keeping a calm, quiet, ordered mind from the morning to the evening, reassessing our goals now and then with every relaxing cup of tea along the day and, after doing our best, resting in the Lord. As Marilla Cuthbert would say, “He knows what He´s about”.

Dear Mrs. Sherman,
I so enjoy your videos and blog. Your thoughts are inspiring, comforting and very practical, just the way I like it! One thing you really stress is guarding our time. I have to say that I didn't understand this years ago and when I retired. I ended up caring for neighbors cats, dogs, chickens, yards, etc. I got quite ill and started saying no and was told it was the "Christian" thing to do and I should keep doing it. It took saying no many times until they finally got it. Needless to say I learned a lot! Sure appreciate your encouragement!
God bless,
Mrs. McNeely

When you have to rush the your own home keeping, it means there are other things unrelated to your own home, that are crowding your time. We should not fell rushed or stressed at home.

Dear Lydia,

I listened to this broadcast yesterday, and I needed to take the time to let you know how it kept me motivated and energized. I did a fair amount of canning and listening to your talk made it less difficult and arduous. It’s hard to explain, but as soon as you were concluding one message, I was scrambling to hook up to some older videos. I am so thankful for all your encouragement. It keeps me happily occupied no matter what I am doing at home. What a blessing you are!!!

Thank you for another lovely broadcast! Tidying my house used to be drudgery, but you have provided much encouragement. I am a member of a biblical femininity book club (with a focus on homemaking) in my area, and that has been another blessing in the last year.
I was able to clean the kitchen and bathroom as I listened today. My 4 year old played in the mud just outside my kitchen window, and 2 year old played with water in the clean kitchen sink.
My older child recently told me that he enjoys tidying the house, and that our home is a blessing from God. He often listens when I have Homemaker Radio playing in the background.

Thank you again for a good hour of wisdom. My 88 year old mother and I are still shelling peas. Her mind is slipping, but she can connect with you being a preacher's wife. My dad was a preacher of the gospel for over 60 years. I have the McGuffey readers, too. I love the simple lessons. I recently got, "Winsome Womanhood," maybe a recommendation from you. You'd enjoy it if you haven't heard of it. It's by Margaret Elizabeth Sangster.
