Times of Trials in the Home (2)

Hello Everyone,
At the request of some of my readers and listeners, I have created some videos dealing with the problem of sudden stress in the family.  While I cannot know personally about every person's family situation, I tried to cover some of the basic things. I learned a lot from Barbara Johnson's book, "Stick a Geranium in Your Hat and Be Happy," and other things from long conversations with a friend who went through some unbelievable upheaval in her life.

Today I continued the subject I brought up in the previous post, regarding trials at home. Anything worth standing for will bring resistance and try your faith.

\\\\

Use trauma as a step to improving your people skills and increasing your faith. Improve yourself in some way, and come out of the difficulties with more confidence.

I read the following scriptures:

Weeping may tarry for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:5

Though He slay me, yet will I trust him.
Job 13:15.

I spoke of the importance of building one another up and thanking each family member for being so supportive and dependable.

Here is today's episode of Homemaking radio:

Dear Mrs.Sherman,
Much of your talk hit home with me - my father is the person drifting from God and he tells my daughter she needs to “get out of her comfort zone” and move away! I agree that there’s nothing wrong with loving your family, home, or town. You don’t have to move away to be “successful”. Also, I’ve thought of naming my home, too! My daughter and I have a “ladies room” where we often sit together without the guys! It has all the prettiest decorations in it and it’s always every guest’s favorite room.

I’m battling a sinus infection so I listened to you while in bed recuperating and it cheered me up. I also battle ants😂.
Anyway, thank you for your words of wisdom and calm nature!

Dear Lydia,

What a comforting message on today’s broadcast. Thank you for reciting so many scriptures that help in times of trauma or tribulations. Oh, and how I appreciated the readings from the book of Psalms. I have been meditating on these precious chapters and verses; I concluded, too, that we are commanded to sing praises to our Great God whatever the circumstances. When we obey and take God at His Word, we will be blessed to sing (morning and evening )the many psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. It was simply wonderful to hear this encouragement today.

Blessings,❤️Holly

I loved hearing how you doubled down in writing when feminists were harassing you! I'm so glad you've stuck with the blog and started this channel. I admire those hardy Canadians, too, and am praying for them during this shocking time of persecution from their govt. On a lighter note, I have an old wooden icebox in my living room that we use for storage. The wood is so beautiful! I am going to take your advice and send cards to a friend I've known for 30 years who recently shunned me because I don't worship certain doctors. We talked for 90 minutes about past trips we took together and many other things before we differed in our opinion and now I'm persona non grata. I enjoyed your encouragement!

Thank you for your posts about trauma. I’ve listened twice to the first one and on my way again through the second. I’ve lived in trauma for some time now and these words really ministered to me in a big way. Bless you Mrs. Sherman.

Lydia,

I wanted to tell you thank you for the past two videos you have put on your blog. They have really encouraged me. I always say that God always gives me exactly what I need at exactly the right time. The past six months I have been battling stage 4 cancer. I’m 36 homeschooling my two young girls still. And this past week my mother in law had an heart attack and not recovering well. Every bad experience I go through, l do seem stronger spiritually and realize more and more that God’s hand is guiding us always. I just want to let you know I’m always encouraged by your knowledgeable lovely videos.

With christian love,
Priscilla

Dear Lydia, thank you so much for this talk, and for the last. They have both been very helpful and timely for me, as I have been going through a lot of emotional distress the past few weeks. I think I'll go back and listen to both talks again, as there is so much good, practical advice in them.

I listened to this one while I stuffed a turkey and then made the pastry for an apple pie. I don't feel well today, so it was nice to have a friend "in the kitchen" sharing encouragement to give me the strength to keep working.

Geetings Lydia,

Such great content. Just today I was saying I'm feeling a tiny bit better until about 4 pm. . . then it all goes South! You called it Creepy House Syndrome - - I could not agree more! I used to love evenings when my husband was alive. . . not so much now. Its very lonely. . and was our time together after the workday.

Fair Weather Friends are what I decided I have - - they all abandoned me after I lost my husband - - so sad. I was always there for them. The reverse is not the case.

And staying in my comfort zone - - very true. They want us upset and turned around. . . to remain in our comfort zone is best. . very wise advice and counsel. Thank you Lydia!!

Thank you again for your good advice and cheer! This is a very widespread issue in the church, not to mention the world. As families become more and more disjointed with marriage, divorce, remarriage, living together, separating, babies born along the way, surnames becoming meaningless, this situation cannot help but get worse. That's why we must teach others to come to Christ and help others come back to Christ.

It's the hardest thing to know how to talk with your prodigal adult children. This video has helped those of us to know that we must take care of ourselves, and thus be ready for the opportunity to welcome them home. This is but a small vision of how God must feel when His children go away from Him.

I listen to the song, "Brighten The Corner Where You Are" on Youtube often. It makes me hope that some Christian living near my oldest two daughters and their families will brighten the corner where they are and touch my daughters and their families so that they will return to the fold of God. Thinking of that, there may be wayward children of Christians who are near me. I pray that I will be able to reach out to them. Their parents are surely praying for them, or prayed every day before their own deaths. So, I am seeing that my own daughters' departure has opened my own eyes of reaching out to others.

I cleaned the kitchen today while I listened.

Lydia, this is my acapella Christian music playlist. If you think it's okay to share, some might like it. If not, that's okay, too.
