Young at Home

Greetings kind listeners.

We are hearing harvest all around us here.

On my list this week was to do two things I wanted to do, even though not at all necessary. One of them was to make a decorative cushion. This one is easy and you can do it too. All you need is a swath of cloth of some kind, and it doesn't even have to be new fabric. It can be square or you can cut it round. Then, put some kind of filler or stuffing in the middle, draw up all the sides and secure it with an elastic band and pull out the ends of the cloth into a ruffle. I used aqua fleece fabric because it does not shred, but any old piece of clothing that you are going to discard would suffice.

I have been to Hobby Lobby and of course I love to look at the printed manufactured wall art there. I was noticing how many of them looked like this, which is a scene from my window, and also I didn't want to forget to say one of the reasons I enjoy walking around in that store is that the merchandise is "never a discouraging word."

Around the Manse today...

...a fresh look for an old porch chair..

...a dress I made for one of my descendants, from Shabby Fabrics cotton print.
For those who like to sew, I'll try some day to do a picture tutorial of how to sew in the piping on the neckline.

I didn’t get “before” pictures but here’s the “after” of the floor.

Today I addressed the young ladies about the way being young helps you in your vital years.
Please enjoy the broadcast while you work, rest, walk, or sleep.

Dear Mrs. L. Sherman,

Please forgive the sudden intrusion. I would just like to take a few moments of your time to tell you how much I enjoy your blog and videos. I like to settle down in the afternoons and listen with a cup of tea. If my husband is nearby, he will oft say "Ah, the Lydia lady, she talks a lot of sense." Sometimes he will stop a moment and we will listen together. We especially enjoy being "home-schooled," so to speak.

It is just the two of us - we never had children - and there was always a temptation to go and get a job because while the world may understand - to some limited extent - a mother at home, a wife at home without children is viewed as extremely odd. But encouraged by God's Word and your blog, I have always stayed home. Despite not having first-hand experience, I enjoy the child-related topics you talk about because I feel it is important to know how to relate to other people's children.

You are creating such a beautiful legacy for your descendants (as you say) and also for people like me who are privileged to have found in your blog a pearl of great value.

Wishing God's continued blessings on you and your family.

Take care,
Mrs. C. Stevens
(From rainy England).

Hi lovely Lydia!!! I actually enjoy your vlogs because there isn't the continual music going like in so many others... I come for the quiet chat and to escape a lot of noise going on around me.... Also, I'm the same when cooking.... I like to be on my own and concentrate on what I'm doing.... my husband is the opposite and doesn't really understand I don't think but after 40 years of shooing him out of the kitchen... you'd think he'd get it!!! haha.... Lots a love Flossy!! xx

Dear Lydia,

Your excellent content on yesterday’s broadcast did NOT put me to sleep… rather, it kept my mind focused and more alert as I snapped a grocery bag full of green beans. I would have been more than happy to listen to past videos, but it really was extra special to listen to a new one. You remained so poised and confident as the harvesters rolled by the manse threatening to distract your train of thought. I only had a handful of string beans to go before I reached the end of the broadcast. Listening in on homemaker radio helps me work more efficiently in my home. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Blessings,
❤️Holly

Dear Lydia

Belgium calling... It has been a while since I posted some comments but I am stil watching and loving every single vlog. I do not seem to find anything so soothing, pure and educating at the same time here on the internet. When I come and listen to (and watch...I looove your dresses and the way you do your hair) you it is as if I am giving myself a present. Please keep making videos because there are no other inpiring women out there who can do what you do and that is: inviting us to your cozy home, making us feel welcome and comforted in these strange, hectic and hostile times. Thank you very much for that.

Warm summer (too hot here: 33 degrees Celsius and no rain in sight for weeks to come) greetings from Belgium.

Maggie

Same weather here in Oregon. When it’s not raining and cold as ice it is hot with dry patched land, sometimes extra humid. 105 Fahrenheit.
